Just trying to be alone

Kev has come up with a new trick. He’s started to sneak up on Alice and scare her.

I sent her off to the school playground to get away from Kev, and after napping on the bench, she had to stop and have a cry again.

Then she crawled up into the climbing frame to hang out. She finds just sitting up there a little bit of a thrill, which is helping to reduce her stress.

But she’s been staying out past curfew, and now the police have come to round her up.

I’m not sure what the wrench is for.

Next: A father for an evening

Good god, I feel so sorry for Alice. I know she’s a fictional Sim and everything but everything that’s happening to her is truly miserable. It makes one think of the similarly difficult lives that many among us live out here in the real world.

the poicewoman is holding a wrench because she has the “handy” trait…my sim had the handy trait and he would take out a wrench, toss it upand catch it ,then put it away 😛 wierd huh?

      • 3 Hahah January 5, 2010 at 2:57 am

I’ve seen that wrench before too, it just comes out of no where. I remember the babysitter pulled it out in front of the baby one time and I was thinking “What the hell is she going to do??” But all they do is twirl it around in their fingers…still pretty disturbing.

    • 4 Fauz October 7, 2010 at 7:54 am

She’s holding the wrench because when she gets hold of her, she’s gonna fix her little red wagon.

  2. 5 EL June 11, 2009 at 6:06 pm

Alice just can’t get away can she? Poor girl. Hope she doesn’t get into too much trouble.

  3. 6 fontgoddess June 11, 2009 at 6:34 pm

I hope that the officer has a flashlight instead of a wrench …

  4. 7 Anna June 11, 2009 at 8:40 pm

This is really sad, but the wrench bit made me giggle.

    • 8 saw June 27, 2009 at 6:14 am

      • 10 katiegirl1996 July 10, 2009 at 2:54 pm

it’s not a buisness suit..it’s his “formal” outfit.every sim has one just in case they go to a wedding or a fancy party of some sort 🙂

  5. 11 Chris June 12, 2009 at 12:42 am

Maybe that cop used to be one of the Mechanics from the “Take On Me” Video.

  6. 14 kris June 12, 2009 at 6:25 am

wow… i can’t help but feel bad for that poor girl. well, at least with the cops she may get to spend the night in jail and that may mean at least a bed to sleep in.

  7. 15 dani June 12, 2009 at 2:09 pm

oh, god, I laughed so hard at the wrench thing, and the ‘take on me’ comment. Who would have expected such a WRENCH to be thrown in the cogs of this story hur hur hur.

    I’m loving it. :]

  8. 16 Sarah June 12, 2009 at 3:25 pm

Maybe if she stays out past curfew enough a social worker will take her away. Or something.

  9. 17 Tara June 12, 2009 at 4:42 pm

Poor Alice. =( And I don’t get the wrench either.

I think I’m going to do this but with a bigger family.

    • 19 Cameo June 13, 2009 at 4:23 am

“I’m not sure what the wrench is for.”

Well, there’s a huge budget crunch lately so maybe the city PD couldn’t afford “billy clubs.” (Trying to lighten the mood a bit before I start crying!)

This is THE best TS3 story I’ve read to date and seriously sad. You are obviously on a “mission” here and I applaud you for your effort. I’m not done reading and will comment when I am.

  10. 20 Alex June 13, 2009 at 5:05 am

    HAHA!
‘I don’t know what that wrench is for.’
    I love Alice’s character.

  11. 21 Michael Ragsdale June 13, 2009 at 5:18 am

The wrench is part of the default cop interaction (EA should change it to a flashlight)

  12. 23 Ryan Rigney June 13, 2009 at 5:52 am

I’m definitely going to be linking to this on the Cinemablend games blog. Awesome, awesome stuff.

  13. 24 Angelia June 13, 2009 at 9:14 pm

I hope she’s not about to be brutalized by the cops now! O__o

  14. 25 Sara June 13, 2009 at 10:37 pm

how did u get the climbing thing?

  15. 26 Jeni June 14, 2009 at 3:14 am

The first thing I thought when I saw the wrench was that the officer was there to take apart that kiddie tower if he had to, by all means they gotta do what must be done, too bad for her they don’t realize the wrench should be used on the father.

  16. 27 MegB June 14, 2009 at 3:46 am

My sims who have the handy trait are often holding a wrench in their hand and throwing it up and catching it multiple times. Kind of odd really. Perhaps the police officer has the handy trait.

Very interesting story – but I don’t find it funny – just interesting and disturbing.

  17. 28 Sydney June 14, 2009 at 2:51 pm

Alice can’t get a breake can she I feel bad for her it looks like she almost never happy °~°

  18. 29 WickedPinkLemon June 18, 2009 at 1:34 am

I am loving this story, great work. Keep it up. 🙂

I may be wrong, but I have observed that Sims with either high handiness skill or the handiness trait will casually flip a wrench at random.

  19. 30 Alyssa June 19, 2009 at 7:46 pm

Man, I feel so sorry for Alice, BUT…the wrentch made me die laughing.

  20. 31 amakachao June 19, 2009 at 9:19 pm

Do you have a gym in your town? Free showers, food and fun via swimming…

  21. 32 Al June 20, 2009 at 1:26 am

I simply love this. It’s brilliant.

I was going to create Sims kind of like that–homeless and broke–and just make them mooch off of other Sims, but I love how you developed their characteristics here to make it just that more difficult. Very entertaining…

I have a question, though: do you ever try to make them take showers in the gym? B/c I sometimes use that when there’s only one bathroom in the house and around four or five Sims.

  22. 33 Simantha June 20, 2009 at 2:59 am

Maybe she’ll be happier at the police station. A bed, a toilet, and actual food.

  23. 34 jordan June 20, 2009 at 6:59 pm

    the wrench! lol

  24. 35 ♥RAWR♥ June 21, 2009 at 2:41 am

shes gonna be hit with it!!!run alice run!11!!!!!

  25. 36 Rolyn June 21, 2009 at 10:06 pm

It’s fictional but this is so heartbreaking…

  26. 37 Diamonique June 22, 2009 at 5:37 pm

kev is such a immature freak..i feeeel soo sorry for alice. i hope everything goes well *sigh* 😦

  27. 38 coolmaggie June 24, 2009 at 12:23 am

When I saw the wrench I was like “What are they gonna do? Hit her with a wrench!”

  28. 39 led flashlight June 24, 2009 at 3:32 am

Great article. Keep on sharing 🙂

  29. 40 Samayra June 24, 2009 at 5:54 am

AH-HA!!!!! That song, I watched the vid, I feel so bad for Alice,
but I cant stop laughing at that video and the wrench!!!!!

  30. 41 Kalika June 24, 2009 at 4:48 pm

Lol that last line made me laugh. 😛

  31. 42 LG June 25, 2009 at 3:03 am

Kev is getting a bit creepy now. I do hope he doesn’t do worse to Alice than this…

  32. 43 jack June 27, 2009 at 4:43 pm

when a sim has the “handy” trait sometimes when there just standing there they pull out a wrench and spin it in there hands. That is why she has the wrench

  33. 44 bob July 4, 2009 at 8:16 pm

It is not a wrench it is a maglight style flashlight. A much needed tool on a cops belt.

  34. 45 Raine July 21, 2009 at 6:21 pm

    Poor girl. 😦
But what’s the police officer going to to do with a wrench?

  35. 46 Willem van der Horst August 1, 2009 at 12:42 pm

Been reading the whole story from the start right now, it’s absolutely amazing stuff. I hadn’t gotten interested in The Sims for a long time but now thinking of trying it again. You just forget how rich it can be.

Thanks for documenting everything as well!

  36. 47 cartoonfansparadise August 8, 2009 at 4:02 pm

    haha, wow, wrench. thats… useful.?

  37. 48 PB's Boys August 27, 2009 at 8:38 am

I’m pretty sure you’re not REALLY meant to answer his statement.

It’s a joke, because he probably already knows what the wrench is for, but he’s implying that the cop would bash Alice.

  38. 49 Tia Maria October 2, 2009 at 9:53 pm

I love this story… It’s so interesting in that as soon as my sims show negative traits I try to squash it out of them and make them aspire.. But this seems waaaaaaaaaaaaaayyy more fun!! I must try it!!!

  39. 50 Ellie October 22, 2009 at 8:58 pm

Hahaha! “I’m not sure what the wrench is for.” That’s hilarious!

  40. 51 Dragon13 July 24, 2010 at 5:13 pm

What is she going to do with the wrench!? O_o I also had a police officer, a babysitter and several people in the town take out a wrench. Its scary.

  41. 52 Pida August 23, 2010 at 12:07 am

this blog is so sad. it’s really interesting but it’s so, so sad. I don’t think I would be able to do this to my sims even though I know they’re not real.

  42. 53 Kayla May 20, 2011 at 7:00 pm

Alice’s freckles are sooo cute (I’m a sucker for freckles). I’d have to take her in if I were the Joys or at least call a social worker.

Just a question where does Alice relieve herself when she’s out of school like on the weekends? Do they do so in the bushes? I’m not very familiar with sims 3, thus the question

  43. 54 carlotta November 14, 2011 at 5:05 pm

ow, it hurts my heart every time to see alice cry. 😦

this is the second time today that i’m reading this blog. so sad but i love the story.
