The only thing raising Kev’s spirits from the pit of despair is that he’s with his daughter. Not because he cares for her, but because he likes having his enemies around so he can shout at them. Kev has a wish to be mean to Alice. He wakes her up.
Alice hasn’t seen her father for days. She has no idea what has led Kev to be so angry.
She just knows that he’s here, and he’s yelling at her.
She begins to respond and accuse him of being mean again, in a mirror of their earlier arguments. But where Kev had only threatened with physical violence before, this time he acts.

If you want to get rid of money, just buy stuff, put it in Live Mode for a second, then sell the stuff for less than you bought it. Job done.
Or you can use “testingCheatsenabled true” and then use the cheat “familyfunds (whatever your family’s last name is) XXX” with the X’s being an amount; in this case, O.
you could use the “donate to charity” interaction w/ your mailbox, although this may only be for “nice” sims.
you just type in “familyFunds familyname amount”…for example if your familys last name was smith you write “familyFunds smith 50″…then they get %50!

I’m not entirely certain how I did it, but I created a single mother in sims today. I feel bad, because I tried every way I could think of to try and get her romantic interest to marry her, but no matter what I did he would still go home the next day. Eventually I just had them ‘try for a baby’ and hoped that he would marry her because its the right thing to do, but when she brought the baby home and he left right after, before she could even fulfill her wish to get a hug from him, I realized I’d done something horribly wrong with her life.
The worst thing was that although I had time frozen, and therefore my sim had all the time in the world, I was afraid that he wasn’t asking her to marry him because they were young adults – so I aged her. Now not only is she a single mother, but she is also an old one, essentially having waited all this time for him to do right by her.
Well, I guess just like in real life, things didn’t go quite as planned. 🙂 You could just cheat it to get them married, if you’re that upset about it. Or, you could just raise the baby as a single mom and see how that works out. You might have fun playing something you’re not used to.
You gotta get sims in the right mood in 3 before they even think about romantic interaction–though, er, if they were sleeping together than the option should have come up by then, huh?…Well, I know for sure that it’s a whole lot harder to do than in sims 1 and 2.

He’s insane. He’s homeless. He is, in every way, as much a victim of this situation as Alice is.
Alice suffers because of this, and it’s easier to feel sympathy for Alice because she’s a lot nicer than him. But once upon a time, Kev was probably nice too.
He’s been on the streets a lot longer, probably, let’s not forget. Who knows what Alice will be like when she’s older?
a lot of the time when i let alice grow up without my interaction (as an npc) she ends up with the grumpy trait instead of unlucky….she becomes sort of miserable to be around. to think that kev once was much more like alice is not too hard to imagine.

While I love this blog, I wish the *episodes* are longer. Have they gotten shorter, or am i just wishing time would go faster?
The episodes are always four panels but I’m feeling the same way – I think it’s just that we’ve gotten more into it. It was great when I first started because I could run through multiple pages as I caught up. Now I just have to wait.

I don’t think Alice can just move out, she’s a “minor” and there’s no emancipations option, though in her case there should be an exception.
Alice does however need to spend some time working up a relationship reallllly well so that the moment she’s an adult she can start asking to stay the night. LIke so many… I do consider Z a prime choice.
Z would be a great choice – after all, Alice has taken his bed before, and, instead of getting angry, he just made funny faces in the mirror. How can you not like a guy like that? 🙂

in a previous comments someone asked the same and roBurkey said they just bought a lot of fish and set them free in some ponds. Doing that effectively gets rid of the money and does no good for them unless they learn to fish…and figure out how to cook it.
Yeah and earlier in this story Alice donated her job money to charity, maybe there’s an option to give the whole lot away.
only good sims can donate, and the lot they live on is decorated like a park so other sims will not recognize them as homeless, they merely recognize that there is no inside to the “home”…sims must live on a lot even if there is nothing on them.

How will it end?
I think she’ll have a breakdown caused by Kev’s worsening abuse and get caught breaking into someone’s house looking for food and a place to sleep. She’ll go to prison.
Then…
It’s 2 years later, she’s out of prison to find Kev in hospital. He didn’t tell them he had a daughter so she didn’t find him until he was actually dying. She tries to tell him that she loves him and doesn’t want him to die but he can’t really hear her – he just cries and cries.
On her return to the benches she finds the mailbox full. She opens an old and stained envalope and in it is a letter from a woman Alice hasn’t seen for 18 years – her mother.
In the letter she begs Kev to forgive her gambling problems, promises him she’s cured now and has a job and a flat in the capital.
She begs to be allowed to see Alice again at least and includes a stamped envalope in the hope that he’ll find it in his heart to reply.
Further staining the page with her tears, Alice writes on the back of the letter the first words she’s ever said to her mother.
Mother,
It’s Alice. Dad told me you were dead. I’m so sorry, he died today in hospital. The doctor said it was from sleeping so long in the cold and damp.
He never told me anything about you so I didn’t know why you weren’t with us.
For so many nights I slept on my bench looking at the stars and thinking that one of them must be you. I always hoped I’d work it out so I could ask you to take me with you. We had so many lonely and cold nights.
I’ve had some troubles of my own recently and have just left prison.
I hope that we can forgive one another and find some future for one another.
The hospital gave me everything Dad had in his pockets, there was a little money and enough for me to get the ticket to come to you.
I can’t wait to see you again

This is really realistic because, if you think about it, many kids get abused every day (more than one slap across the face). When I was a kid, I got beat down by my father when I hit my Mom. It wasn’t like a slap when I hit my Mom, but a kind of hard poke. My father picked me up, and pushed me unto the floor. He broke my glasses, too. I apologized to my Mom the next day, but my Dad didn’t. I still haven’t forgotten it, nor forgiven him. VERY REALISTIC STORY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don’t think the social services care about teenagers – they think teens are old enough to take care of themselves 😦 But for me, social services just came to take one of my babys only because the baby happened to get hungry enough before I noticed! Oh my, I just realized that on the Sims 3 news page this is titled as Alex and Kev! I kind of found this funny. Anyway I love this story! I feel so bad for Alice; she almost seems like a real person. And Kev never ceases to amaze me with the way he exploits his traits. I think that Robin needs to write another story for a different type of Sim family and see how it turns out. Well, when Alice does grow up and get a good job and lots of money, guess who that money will go to? Since she’s a Good sim, she’ll likely give some to Kev. Even though he’s been verbally abusive, she’s a better person than that. And that is how she will show him, by helping him.

I got into this blog recently and read through each post one after another. Now that I’m caught up and have to wait a day to read each new entry, it’s tedious. Can we please get more posts per day or longer posts?
Alice hasn’t exactly been having the best night, either. I fully expect her to flip out and do something surprising. Hopefully she’ll scream so much at Kev that he starts crying and then the two of them sit down and have a heart to heart.
I was really hoping Kev would know better than to hit Alice, I liked him on equal terms with her up until now.
Yeah, until this happened I really enjoyed them both as well. But hitting her like that….man, I’m kind of hoping Alice picks up some kung fu skills and gives him a beat-down, lol. For all the good, nice things she does, she deserves a break from his nuttiness every once in awhile. In the first sims game, you could get them to be rude to each other, and slap each other. If you got them into a really bad mood, you could get them into a brawl.
I didn’t play The Sims 2, but I assume they expanded on that, at least to a certain extent.
For the Sims 2, you could slap, poke, fight, and argue. I think there was a few more options, but I can’t remember.

This is a really good story. Lol i really like it. But im just wondering how you make them homeless… i mean no money i get that part but do you give them a lot instead of a house? and did you buy the park benches or is that some place else?
She uses a home lot in Riverview, it’s decorated to look like a somewhat rundown park.
A lot of commenters here are wondering when Social Services will be coming by. What they don’t seem to realize is that, unless it’s changed from earlier incarnations of the game, when the Social Worker comes, the kid vanishes, never to be seen again. I for one would hate to lose Alice. I want to see what becomes of her.
i know that in the sims2 u can have a diffrent family adopt kids that get taken by the Social Worker
but i dont know a bout sims 3
When Sims slap each other in any version of the game, it’s done in a very comic way. They slap their victims multiple times on both cheeks, like in the 3 Stooges, and then you see little stars floating around the Sim who got slapped and hear tweety bird noises. The victim of the slapping sort of “shakes it off” in the end.
I’m pointing this out because I want to comment on how much I love Robin’s style. She captures just the right frame of the animation…right as Kev’s hand meet’s Alice’s face, and the look of fear and bewilderment in her expression is heart rendering.

Kev is inappropriate, insane, and doesn’t like kids. It unfortunately isn’t surprising that he is about to hit Alice. The surprising part is with all his issues that he hasn’t hit her sooner. Up until this moment, he’s been able to keep himself in check and has only threatened violence.
Of course, from a psychological point of view, Alice is the focal point of Kev’s rage about his recent rejection. He can’t lash out at the old lady, so he’s transferring all his pent up emotions onto the most available target, which in this case is poor Alice. Had Alice not been home, Kev would have likely kicked over the garbage can or trashed the park (can you really trash a park that is already kind of trashy though?).
I know that social services will step in for neglect from past versions of the Sims, but for abuse? I’d like to see it, but I have a feeling that it won’t happen. Alice may fight back though (we’ve seen her stand up to her father before). She may be good, but she’s not a pushover.
I really feel that Alice will move out as soon as she grows up. I think she’d rather roam the streets than to put up with Kev at this point.
I had an insane sim, but it actually had perks, like the conversations she could have with herself, so I’m going to assume the bad tempered ness is what made him do that. 😦
Ugh, I need more! Is it possible for you to update more often than once a day, or am I being greedy? Probably the latter.
And Z and Alice so need to hook up. After she comes of age, of course.
