Apology

Alice wants this to stop. She wants to stop being enemies. She wants her father and her to be friends. Secretly, this is something Kev wishes for as well.

I have Alice begin trying out the various different social interactions, trying to fix their relationship. But anything she says just seems to make it worse. It’s as if Kev just hates the sound of her voice.

With most of the social options exhausted, I try ‘apologise’. Then I cringe, as I realise what I have just done. Alice begs for forgiveness from Kev for what she said to him just before he slapped her.

Kev doesn’t want to know. He rejects the apology.

Alice tries to convince Kev to stop by explaining to him how he makes her feel.

But Kev just thinks that’s hilarious.

    This is awesome!!!!!!Your blog rules!!!

    But Kev is so mean

    • 2 Kameron June 27, 2009 at 9:26 am

I think what Alice should do now is just Leave Kev, I mean cmon he’s just too mean to her.

      • 3 Beka June 27, 2009 at 6:06 pm

Ah, but until she graduates to Young Adult, she can’t leave! No running away for Sims…

      • 4 Chelsea June 29, 2009 at 1:11 am

she;s a teen she has a curfew unless she keeps running away from the cops.

      • 5 NeoTogo June 29, 2009 at 2:04 am

In Sims 2 if the teenager had a bad enough reletionship with everyone on the lot, then they could run away, but i dont know if that applies to sims 3 as well….

      • 6 Xoma July 11, 2009 at 2:14 pm

Naw, he is her father, and you should always obey your violent elders. He’s just doing what he thinks is best for her.

    • 7 JenaSim June 28, 2009 at 10:48 pm

I agree. Although, I think it’s time to fight fire with fire! After Alice gives Kev the beating of his life, perhaps she could save her pennies for herself (even though the charity gesture was super cool) and avoid him altogether until such time as she can grow up and get a place. An easier way would be to align herself with someone she can move in with..

I’ve been quite moved by this blog, and find myself looking forward to the post each day. Can’t wait to see what comes next!

I knoww, I find myself checking everyday. This is an amazing storyy… Made me tempted to make evil, insane sims, and y’know what, it’s hell more fun… xx

      • 10 Izzy June 28, 2009 at 9:45 am

I love insane sims! Normal sims are wayyy too boring.

Thanks again for writing this awesome blog. I love it!

  3. 11 myranda June 27, 2009 at 9:29 am

wow.. good going alice, but kev is just awful..

  4. 12 Samantha June 27, 2009 at 9:30 am

Alice shouldn’t have had to be the one to apologise!

  5. 14 Jane June 27, 2009 at 9:31 am

Hahaha… good twists and turns… who is Kev going to encounter next.. maybe she should run off an join the circus and leave him to the park bench lol

    Keep it up!

  6. 15 Desiree June 27, 2009 at 9:31 am

Thats really sad. She trys to fix thing and just gets shot down, Kev is really mean.

  7. 16 Elfie June 27, 2009 at 9:48 am

Since Kev is so mentally unsound and backwards, obviously the usual friendly interactions aren’t going to work. Maybe if she decided to fight with him he would respond. But I wonder if sweet little Alice could even do that.

Your cliffhangers are AWFUL. I hope Alice and Kev reach some kind of understanding – but then again I hope Kev just experiences a beat down of epic proportions.

    • 17 Mason June 28, 2009 at 2:57 pm

your not the only one. kev is gona get his virtual carma

    • 18 Lorraine June 28, 2009 at 10:13 pm

True. Maybe Kev could be the one to start the fight with Alice, and she would win (because she’s a teenager and he’s an old man). Then, she would gain some grudging respect from her father. Maybe the problem is that Alice and Kev are so different in the ways that they deal with life’s problems. Maybe if Alice were given the opportunity to communicate in a language her father could understand…

Also, I could be wrong, but I felt a little bit hopeful when I read that Kev secretly hopes to be friends with his daughter…

  8. 19 Kansine June 27, 2009 at 10:00 am

OMG! I’ve never seen before a sim rejecting an apologize! No matter how bad enemies my sims have been, they always have accepted each others apologize! Kev must hate Alice sooo much! And what has Alice ever done wrong? O_o I can’t even understand how this is possible…

    • 20 CharlieM June 27, 2009 at 10:19 am

I think it’s something to do with the ‘Evil’ trait, partially. I’ve tried to apologise to 2 Evil Sims just for the sake of it, and they get angry.

Though I’m sure other Sims who may or may not have been Evil have done the same …

      • 21 kansine June 27, 2009 at 7:00 pm

Oh, really… O_o I haven’t tried that with evil sims, only with bad-tempered and meanspirited (or whatever that trait is in english, I don’t play in english) ones, and they always accept the apology. It seems that the evil ones really ARE Evil with capital E!

      • 22 Meredith June 27, 2009 at 7:24 pm

I have an evil sim and other then the urge to steal candy from her kids and other random kids and donating money to undermine chartitys shes normal. Other sims have aplogized to her and shes accepted it.
I think its the innapropreate trait.

      • 23 Samantha June 27, 2009 at 9:41 pm

Kev isn’t evil, he’s insane, inappropriate, hot-headed, mean spirited and hates kids. the fact that he’s mean and mad wouldn’t help the fact that he’s talking to a kid which would make his mood worse could all combine to the rejection of the apology if its not just one trait.

    • 24 Bahaus July 5, 2009 at 12:56 am

That actually happened to me, and there was no single evil sim involved. o.O
I made my sim’s sister ask her to break up with her boyfriend, and she did, but her and the sister’s boyfriend suddenly got enemies, and I can’t fix the relationship. At all!
I have even tried the Smooth Recovery, which I got by working up her Charisma, but still nothing. The dude keeps getting angrier… if that’s even possible. I suppose they’ll be enemies for life. =(

  9. 25 Kansine June 27, 2009 at 10:04 am

Hey, where’s my comment? I just wrote quite much about how amazing this is, since I never before have seen a sim reject an apology, no matter how bad enemies they have been! Kev hates Alice so much that I can’t even understand how it’s possible. Is there like totally no way to fix their relationship? O_o (And WHY OH WHY was my last comment not published?)

  10. 28 saw June 27, 2009 at 10:30 am

i love this story. I cant wait til tommorow!

  11. 29 may June 27, 2009 at 10:30 am

Wow, so heartbreaking. And thanks for making today’s post a tad longer 🙂

  12. 31 Swirlypepper June 27, 2009 at 10:31 am

Oh poor Alice, the fact that she lays her heart out for him and he just laughs at her is terrible. How long does she have left before she can be an adult?

  13. 32 pipskie June 27, 2009 at 10:38 am

where did the bear go between the first and fourth screenshots?

  14. 34 con June 27, 2009 at 10:50 am

cant wait till mean kev dies XD

  15. 36 oliviauncensored June 27, 2009 at 10:57 am

Yee, I can’t wait for more.

  16. 37 Denise June 27, 2009 at 11:16 am

Kev is wearing a wedding ring still. What’s up with that?

  17. 41 Steph June 27, 2009 at 11:36 am

Oh my God! I really want Alice to grow up now and move out and get a kick ass job AWAY from Kev! What a tool!
But still loving the storyline 😀 xxx

  18. 42 TBolt June 27, 2009 at 12:00 pm

Some tech blog pointed me to this story. It’s interesting, and I will follow it.

I won’t buy SIMS3 (just don’t have the time for it), but I’m curious to know how many hours of observing the game in action does it take to come up with each new blog entry? 1 hour? 5 hours?

Also, curious to know how much of this is user manipulated and how much is created by the game? 50% / 50%? Less? More?

    Thanks — fun story! 🙂

    • 43 Meredith June 27, 2009 at 7:20 pm

sims 3 is awsome. you can customize( think thats what your asking) most stuff. you can customize the sims the most, everthing except height. And most everthing in the world has at least one customizable part.

    • 44 Mea June 27, 2009 at 7:59 pm

I think to let the storyline play itself out it would take more time than if you were directing your sims to take actions.

The fun of sims 3 is that the sims DO have free will, and that is what I believe the author of this had in mind when creating it. He uses minimal control over his sims. When he has used control to manipulate the situation he will point it out (in this post he did so to try and fulfill a wish of Alice to be freinds with her father and went through all positive itneractions) Manipulating to accomplish a wish however is also technically following a sims will since it is something a sim wants to do in a round about way. But for the most part these sims are wandering around of their own accord with the social interactions. When Kev popped the question to Yvette from my understanding, it was Kev’s choice to do so.

His manipulations should add up to less than 50% such as moving them to different lots and accomplishing the rare wish. I would guess somewhere under 25% from my observations.

    • 45 forrestgoodson June 28, 2009 at 5:38 am

why does everyone care how much he manipulated the game? cant you people just enjoy the dang story?!?

      • 46 Mea July 1, 2009 at 11:43 am

        I don’t care, I Was just answering a question >.>

And that person was simply curious…

        <..>

You freaking out and acting like these people who are asking are somehow criticising is completely innaprorpiate.

  19. 47 Brytni June 27, 2009 at 12:06 pm

    😦 so short.

  20. 48 The Beatnik June 27, 2009 at 12:58 pm

It’s kind of poignant to see Alice’s old, once-beloved teddy bear in the first screenshot.

  21. 49 Jackrabbit June 27, 2009 at 1:03 pm

We must kill Kev. In a fire, if at all possible.

  22. 50 Erica June 27, 2009 at 1:11 pm

Indeed. But then again, imagine how nasty his ghost would be. :O

  23. 51 Elvish Hillbilly June 27, 2009 at 1:36 pm

The only way I’ve been successful at getting two Sims who are enemies (one was evil) to befriend one another is to two fun things together like watch tv, and etc. They are forced to interact as they chat about the tv program or whatever activity they are doing, only it’s positive interaction since most of their attention if focused on the activity they are doing. Perhaps they can go play chess together in the park or something. It is something that will have to happen slowly over a long period of time, eventually he will accept her apology when he hates her less.

  24. 53 Katie June 27, 2009 at 1:56 pm

This is excellent! But I would never have the skill to carry it all off. I’m only good at making big families on The Sims 2!

  25. 54 Livvi June 27, 2009 at 2:00 pm

Aw, I’m gonna cry!! T_T Poor Alice, pouring her heart out and trying to set things straight, and her sorry excuse for a father LAUGHS at her!!

. . . Did I just say I was going to cry over pixelated people?

  26. 57 HAB June 27, 2009 at 2:11 pm

Why is Alice still a teenager while Kev is an elder?
    Here’s a nothe to Alice;

Grow up, get a full time job, and move out of that abandoned park!

  27. 58 nikki June 27, 2009 at 2:41 pm

That’s not much of a cliffhanger… but whoever thinks Kev has bipolar say I!

    IIIIIIIIIIIIII!!!!!!!!!!!

  28. 60 LiteratiTempo June 27, 2009 at 2:54 pm

I don’t the aging ins the Sims 3 Matched up well. There isn’t enough time to raise children properly, provide a stable income, and get a job as an adult. You wind up being an elder much to soon. I think they should at least see their kids become young adults before they hit elder.

And Kev is just evil and insane. Maybe his insanity will allow him to override the evilness towards his daughter eventually.

  29. 64 Katie June 27, 2009 at 3:04 pm

I just read through your entire blog…and I’m hooked! It’s fantastic!

  30. 65 Sarah June 27, 2009 at 3:28 pm

This reminds me way too much of actual domestic violence, down to the apology and everything. Alice needs to get out of there NOW.

  31. 66 Mythos June 27, 2009 at 3:56 pm

Alice doesn’t really have metaphor skills (is that a bag?), so no wonder Kev finds it hilarious.

    • 67 Miao June 27, 2009 at 6:45 pm

The bag over the head is the symbol for “humiliation” in the game. His mean-spirited trait also makes him insensitive and rude, so of course he would laugh at someone’s attempt to elicit sympathy from him.

  32. 68 Haley June 27, 2009 at 4:17 pm

Love it! just found it yesterday and read through it. Wonderful idea! I bought the game, but can’t play it yet because my computer is too old. 😦

  33. 70 Apryl June 27, 2009 at 4:19 pm

facinating blog… I don’t have sims in any incarnation, in fact the last time I ever played it was Sim Earth back in the early 90’s *is old now*… fantastic blog, I look forward to reading more about Alice and Kev

  34. 71 Sylvanna June 27, 2009 at 4:40 pm

the genes is all wrong. how can a heartless father have a daughter that is the polar opposite of him? oh well, i guess it’s the mum “trait”. poor mum. she probably died of grief.

  35. 73 hannahj93 June 27, 2009 at 4:44 pm

this is a reply to what LiteratiTempo sed really but im sure more than one person thinks the same. say for instance u have a kid in ur early 20’s (young adult) then by the time ur an aduld they would almost be a teen. but if u wait till ur a grownup aduld an then deside to have kids it is quite late in ur life an by the time there a teen ur an elder. the same thing sorta happend in my family, my mum gave birth to my sister wen she was in her early 20’s my sister would now be counted as a young adult and my mum an old woman. but my younger brother was born wen my mum was in her late 30’s. he would now be counted as a teen with my mum as old. so coz kev is already an adult wen alice it a kid i think the timeing is right.

sorry if u foung tha long an boring :/ lol

  36. 74 ghilie June 27, 2009 at 4:48 pm

I think Alice is exhibiting real-life traits of a woman in an abusive relationship.

  37. 77 Henke June 27, 2009 at 4:50 pm

I’d really like to give him a kick in the nuts. How can act like that towards his own daughter. Todays episode really broke my heart and for the first time I didn’t laugh…

  38. 78 Dawn Skye (alice fan club) June 27, 2009 at 5:00 pm

ALICE WAS THE ONE SAYING SORRY???>? THAT IS WRONG IN SOO MANY WAYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AND THEN KEV REGECTED IT?????????????????????????????????/ GEEZ!

  39. 79 Samuel Brooks June 27, 2009 at 5:43 pm

Poor Alice. Kev is such a bag of douche.

  40. 80 katierose June 27, 2009 at 5:46 pm

O poor Alice she didn’t do anything
    thats soooooo sad

  41. 81 Andrew June 27, 2009 at 6:07 pm

Could Alice ever leave her sim “house”? I think now might be the best time.

  42. 82 A-Sha June 27, 2009 at 6:22 pm

Somehow the bubble with her begging made me… Laugh -_-” And the next one (with her + paperbag)… Nvm. Pity her. Damn Kev.

  43. 83 Miao June 27, 2009 at 6:38 pm

Is it even worth it to try to fix their relationship, with Kev being as old as he is and their relationship being as abysmal as it is? If their lifespans are short, then they may not make much headway even if every day is an improvement over the last.

I’m enjoying this, even if it’s terribly sad at times. Keep it up!

  44. 84 Tabitha June 27, 2009 at 7:11 pm

I love this blog! I downloaded Kev and Alice, it is hard, I felt so sad for them that i gave them some money, I can’t do what you do, its so heartwrenching, even if it is fictional characters! I absolutly love it, I’m a writer, and I just wish I could have thought of something as wonderful as this!

  45. 85 Meredith June 27, 2009 at 7:15 pm

😦 Alice should run away. Or scrape money together for a birthday cake so she can grow up.

  46. 86 Jamie June 27, 2009 at 7:15 pm

This is a great story. Alice realy needs to find someone that loves her. A Boyfrined, girlfriend. Move in with another family, somthing!!! I think the only way for Alice to be on her own is for Kevin to move out somewhere else or for him to die. Since Alice is still a teen, she doesnt have the option to in the game itself. But Kev has the option to move out and not bring her with him. I believe…

  47. 90 Anna June 27, 2009 at 7:42 pm

Awww… It’s so wrong that Alice is the one apologizing. I think Kev needs to die. Maybe by drowning… or an axe.
…Yes. Let’s use the axe. But not when Alice is around.

And also, I thought Kev also secrtly wanted to be friends with Alice? So why did he reject her apology?? Is it the fact that he’s insane, inappropriate or hates kids, or is it that they’re enemies?????

now then… Has anyone got an axe, a sword, or a large, verrry sharp knife?

  48. 91 Ray June 27, 2009 at 8:21 pm

You should see about downloading a mod that lets teens move out, if thats a good route to go. mts2 has one, I believe. she could save up her money untill she has enough, assuming teens can get raises… idk on that one…

But either way, this story just gets better and better. I love it. 🙂

  49. 92 Rain June 27, 2009 at 9:09 pm

I’m not sure if mts2.com stuff will work on Sims 3 Ray.. It’s worth a shot though.

  50. 95 LOLA June 27, 2009 at 9:58 pm

omg i simply adore this i have been totally inspirerd to make homeless sims on my game! thanks again for writing these really great stories!!! =)

PS i kev is hilarious, he cracks me up! Poor alice tho

  51. 96 defaultplayer June 27, 2009 at 10:04 pm

    Kev: Best. Character. Ever

  52. 98 EverlastingBlue June 27, 2009 at 10:11 pm

    I propose some movies:

    Kev Bin Diver Must Die
    Kill Kev
The Murder of Kev Bin Diver

  53. 99 Kelvin June 27, 2009 at 10:19 pm

I just put them into my town. Right away Kev went and got a job in Law Enforcment. lol. Should be interesting.

  54. 100 Leis June 27, 2009 at 10:28 pm

Today’s chapter was pretty surprising…wasn’t sure WHAT would happen after the slap!! I really hope Alice grows up soon, for her own sake. And learns to fight back, regardless of him being her dad.

Oh, and I’ve been enjoying this so much, when I was at Gamestop today, I was planning to buy it. Sadly, was not quite prepared for the $50 price tag, so I bought a second-hand Sims2 for my DS instead…what a letdown! It’s nothing like the Sims games on PC, it’s a verrrry linear, mission-based game. Ugh. Hopefully the missions unlock a “sandbox” game mode…otherwise, it’ll be the fastest return I’ve ever made, lmao.

    • 101 Kansine June 28, 2009 at 8:27 am

How stupid of them to make that kind of version of the sims 2!!! I think the whole point of sims is that you can make them the way you eant and play exactly the way you want! I’m sorry for u, hopefully they will accept your return!

    • 102 Amber June 28, 2009 at 1:31 pm

No sandbox mode, sorry. You still have objectives to complete if you so choose, but after that, it’s really not that fun. Mostly I just live in the lap of luxury, since my sim had 200,000!

  55. 103 Sims3_Fan_27 June 27, 2009 at 11:29 pm

I hope that as soon as Alice moves out and turns into a young adult that her life is better – I hope she finds love and has some childern – It will make me happy. =)

  56. 104 woody543 June 27, 2009 at 11:43 pm

kev is so mean 😦 poor alice.
in my story i made alice move out as soon as she got the chance to.
no such luck in for her in this story

  57. 105 Celara June 28, 2009 at 12:33 am

I wonder if once Alice grows up, there will be a chance she and Kev can become friends then. After all, once she’s no longer a kid, that should take away some of Kev’s dislike issue with her.

But, after dealing with rejection, abuse, and humiliation for so long, I’m surprised Alice still has a wish to be friends. I know Kev’s her Dad, but to be friends, she’s going to still have to deal with his abusive and unpredictable behavior.

  58. 106 LianneRose June 28, 2009 at 1:03 am

    Poor, poor Alice.
I really hope she get sout of there soon

    I downloaded this family
But I am too nice >.< I dont like my sims being unhappy 😦
I keep making them go to the Grampa's hhousehold and steal food, get showers, steal their vegetables and sleep in their beds… I even kept buying furniture to go in the lot then deleted them remembering they are supposed to be unhappy… I just caaaant do it.
I had an insane sim in another household and she was so happy she never acted insane! Thats how nice I am! Lol

I guess I can live the meanness through you 🙂

Ty so much for this blog

  59. 107 Carla June 28, 2009 at 1:17 am

Poor Alice. I’ve never seen an apology rejected. Their relationship must be really poor or Kev must be a real jerk. Or probably both.

  60. 108 Grey Sky (Yesmy1standlastnamesarereal) lol June 28, 2009 at 1:36 am

    okay Kev…! THAT’S IT!

your just being an ass now! ur daughters ‘apologizing’ and ur rejecting something she doesn’t even have to do, but does anyway becuz she wants to be on your good side….HAVE YOU NO SHAME MAN????

    i’m sick of lecturing…rofl (i sound like a mother)

peace out! (there, no i’m hip to the game…wtf?)

I cant wait to see what happens next! I love it.

  64. 112 Leebeloola June 28, 2009 at 3:29 am

What a great story! I’ve become so hooked on this. It’s a storyline I’ve always wanted to play but could never get myself to do. Strange isn’t it? I’m perfectly happy killing sims, but making them suffer continously…just can’t do it.
Despite the homeleness issue it is a very fun read, and not as depresing as I would have imagined.

  65. 113 kkatattack! June 28, 2009 at 4:25 am

kev is seriously on my last nerves! he needs to stop treating alice like he does! >:|

  66. 114 You Dontwannaknow June 28, 2009 at 4:44 am

I wish Alice would grow up already and leave Kev in he dust!

  67. 115 arxsyn June 28, 2009 at 4:54 am

RoBurky, I’ve been following this blog and have been thoroughly enjoying this blog and of Kev and Alice’s story. Kev is a truly detestable father, and I commend Alice for attempting to cultivate a better relationship with him even though her efforts are pretty much wasted… She may hate him, but her good nature doesn’t let her act out at him. I guess she blames it all on his mental illness……

Like everyone else, I have high hopes for Alice. She’s so hardworking! I admire her courage. As a kid she did her homework every night to exhaustion and now as a high schooler, it is infinitely harder to succeed in school due low mood affecting her schoolwork and ultimately, her grades. Sure, she has a part-time job but again with low moods all the time she can’t ever hope to get promotion or pay raises either. I can envision her succeeding to earn the privilege to a “good” trait that will make her life less difficult–I vouch for the “workaholic” trait in keeping with her tenacity–but her living standard is so dismal. I cannot see her accomplishing any of this without outside help or direct intervention! Otherwise, she’ll just be in perpetual poverty.

I’m hoping she’ll find some romance as well–maybe running off to move in with a nice, understanding, and supportive boyfriend [hint, hint] which would improve her living standard which would translate to her succeeding in school and career of choice.

Ive been reading this from the beginning the last half hour, its quite a fascinating (if rather sadistic) experiment. To be honest, I hope that, in a future expansion, EA for the first time in the series introduces the possibility of a Sim murdering another one by whatever means (imagine the virtual mystery stories that could occur). If that were possible, its very likely that one of these Sims would have murdered the other one by this time.

As it is, I predict that Alice will probably end up dying at a young age, I remember playing Sims 2 and having the Sim wife get out of bed and drop dead for no reason at all. Sometimes the game gets pretty eerie. Sims 3 is quite brilliant, Ive created a couple named Alexander and Alexis Kubrick, and theyve just had their first son who is named (of course) Stanley. But Ill be checking back on the further adventures of these two and how long it takes for them to turn into ghosts themselves (maybe Kev can get a date with that graveyard beauty then).

Thanks for posting this very entertaining serial! 🙂

  69. 117 Saint Subversive June 28, 2009 at 5:55 am

I might add that with my newly born Sim, Stanley Kubrick (who is currently still in the Baby stage, Im playing it at Epic speed so it will last about 5 or so days total), I have his crib set up next to a deluxe stereo, and when he is awake in it, I play Classical music, and baby Stan gets an “enjoying music” moodlet that cheers him up considerably (not to mention preparing him at an early age to write the 2001 score as an adult Hit Movie Composer, since he cant yet choose to be a Movie Director). I guess that by making the Baby happy and content to his infancy, you then get to choose the first two traits (otherwise the game autochooses two negative ones for you). Dont worry, Kubrick fans, Ill be choosing Logical (SK was a Chess fanatic and so his Sim counterpart will surely want to be the World Chess Champion when he grows up) and Genius (which he was, the God of Cinema).

I cant wait to see what the many expansions will add, and again, I urge EA to give at least one of them a dark edge beyond zombies and vampires, to the more disturbing real life monsters. It would forever negate the (false) cliche that the Sims series is somehow a “dollhouse” game meant mostly for females. It’s actually a stunning and hypnotic life simulation that could very well be THE greatest thing created for computers yet. Anyone wanting to delve into the many complexities and hidden things in it, be sure to buy the new Prima strategy guide. In my opinion, calling Sims 3 a “game” is an understatement, and your experiment here is a fantastic illustration of that. Keep up the good work, Ill be back!

    • 118 JenaSim June 29, 2009 at 12:47 am

Bless you for saying that! I too wanna see the sims get into the real life tragedy that goes on. I was really hoping for that during the long sims 3 wait. Hopefully they will bring this into an expansion pack.

Commenting on the story, POOR ALICE!

  78. 127 Alicia June 28, 2009 at 4:22 pm

I think I will go insane if I would be Alice.

  79. 128 Subby June 28, 2009 at 4:36 pm

Het guys… look at the Twitter for this story: http://twitter.com/aliceandkev. The author says there will be no update today. I hope everything is OK. They do have a real life, too. I wish I had the time to create and update a story like this. I LOVE The Sims! I have been playing since the original Sims came out. I really commend this person for taking the time to do this. I am hooked to this story and I want an update, too. However, I understand that real life can get in the way. 🙂 Keep it up! It is an awesome story!!

    Where’s my daily update?

  81. 131 Anna June 28, 2009 at 5:26 pm

… the updates are so shooort!!
It’s depressing. I’m constantly checking the story and waiting for the latest update.
    But I can’t help it. I’m hopeless.
I hope that Alice’s mother(who will be extremely rich and have a really good job) will come and get Alice, and bring her to a huge mansion and leve Kev behind in the park.Alice will become very successful, rich, and really happy. Then, years later, Alice will return to her old home. She will find Kev who will be extremely ill and still living in the park. Thanks to her good trait, she will take her dying father to the hospital. Once there, the two will reconcile and become friends, then hug.
…And then kev dies. Everyone loves a happy ending.

  82. 133 C-girl June 28, 2009 at 5:31 pm

Holy hot dogs on a stick, what a cliff hanger. O.o

I just found your website through Kotaku, and I’m hooked (just plowed through everything in the past hour). Seriously. I adore Alice and Kev. XD Well, not so much Kev right now. I hope Alice does something about this; she too sweet to go through stuff like this. I can’t wait to see how this turns out! XD

  83. 134 gothic_chick_demon June 28, 2009 at 7:04 pm

I just got done reading this story. I have to say it kept me wanting more. Alice is so sweet, and her dad is a joke of a man, but his acts made me laugh. I can’t wait for the next update to bad it’s not today. 😦 What an awsome story you got going. I commend you on you’r hard work.

  84. 135 Shelly June 28, 2009 at 7:16 pm

    Update update update D:

  85. 136 may June 28, 2009 at 7:21 pm

Oh no…I added Alice and Kev to my game (not playing as them, just as another household) and now Kev has ANOTHER baby. I’m guessing the game randomly spawned him, but still, the poor child!! His name is Brant. I was spying on their lot and saw that a lot of people try to befriend Kev but he’s so mean to them. The people who go over play with the baby though and give him lots of attention. It’s still sad though 😦 first Alice and now Brant. I hope Alice takes good care of her brother.

    • 137 Nicole June 28, 2009 at 7:52 pm

The same May. I made a Alice and Kev and then began playing other households. Story progression was left on. Next thing I know, there’s a baby sitting in the park between the benches. Alice is a young Adult and somehow, Kev became one of my other Sim’s Boss at the Military center.

Story progression is really odd at times.

    • 138 angie June 28, 2009 at 8:08 pm

@ may- oh my god how did he have a baby D:

    • 139 Livvi June 28, 2009 at 8:24 pm

Awwww. poor alice. this is an amazing blogg. :]

  87. 141 Amy June 28, 2009 at 9:22 pm

I agree about all this stuff, guys. It’s a great story, and is hilarious, sweet, and heartwarming. But, I believe that I may be the only one to make a comment about this: Will you guys just SHUT UP?!?! I mean, if you’re gonna check this damn thing every day, DO something and donate to charity! That’s what this is mainly about! I love this story too, but don’t just sit there following the lives of characters from a computer game if you’re not going to do anything for REAL PEOPLE who are in the same situation, except worse! For example, at least Alice and Kev get to go into people houses for food and rest! How many people who are homeless ca do that in real life? And, do you think homeless people can just walk up to someone and make a conversation, good or bad? Most people would run away if a “hobo” tried to interact with them! Do you think someone in real life like Alice would be able to go to school, and get a job? NO! They couldn’t! Real people are in much worse a situation, if they’re in a situation even SIMILAR to this one. So, PLEASE, at least think about it. I’m JUST asking you to CONSIDER actually doing something to make a difference. The Sims 3 website provides both this story by Robin Burkinshaw, and a link/connection to a REAL-LIFE charity, so you can HELP REAL PEOPLE IN NEED.I haven’t seen ONE comment saying they feel sorry for people who have to deal with this in the real world.

I think that was a pretty good speech! Yay!! :p Thanks for your time! (If you read this…0.o)

    • 142 forrestgoodson June 28, 2009 at 10:31 pm

you must not be observant if you havent seen one comment about them feeling sorry for people really in this situation…

    • 143 taylor June 28, 2009 at 10:48 pm

      Amy, i agree. :]

    • 144 Pantalones June 28, 2009 at 11:01 pm

    • 146 TeamJacob June 29, 2009 at 1:24 am

      wow your so right.
it kinda sucks if your a tween and u have no say in other peoples life. hee hee that was a good speech!

and really, people, calm down about the retarded update!
This guy has a life. he needs to get back to that life.
so if your freakin out about this thing, chill out
u will live without a game and a person who takes time out of their day to do this!

some of u need to just get a life

  91. 155 taylor June 28, 2009 at 10:47 pm

Well i think that if theres no update today that there should be two tomorrow, to make up for today at least. :]]] Its only fair for making us wait:] Dont you think ?

Great story.I can’t wait for Alice to grow into a young adult so she can move out or at least get a boyfriend and move in with him

  93. 160 WickedPinkLemon June 29, 2009 at 12:45 am

AMY needs to relax. This is a STORY, just like if you were watching a TV show. The game is used as a medium to represent the characters. Instead of ranting on the blog, why don’t YOU go do something, and take a little slice of humble pie.

    • 161 TeamJacob June 29, 2009 at 1:30 am

      hey hey hey

      she made a point.

    • 162 Amy June 29, 2009 at 3:41 am

      OK, WickedPinkLemon,
What made you think that I would write all that, and give all who read it such a lecture, and not do anything myself?!?!
I just asked my mom today if I could donate to the charity this is connected to, (lol well I wasn’t gonna do it in secret…) and she said yes, so I WILL be donating soon. And I’m not saying everyone has to get up and donate to charity, I’m just saying that it would be a good thing to do, and if you’re not going to, then at least ACKNOWLEDGE (and more sufficiently, please) that there are people who suffer over a hundred times more than Alice and Kev, who aren’t even real, and that this is focusing on that fact.
And, I’m probably going to lose a lot of support for this, but I don’t like pie. lol
And, thank you, Taylor and TeamJacob. I appreciate the support. :))
AND, roBurky, just saying, you are REALLY good at storytelling. And you’ve probably been told that a thousand times….xD

    • 163 saw June 29, 2009 at 7:48 am

yes i agree with her, shes the one whos sitting ranting about ppl who dont donate to homeless people and what the heck is she doing?!

  94. 165 WickedPinkLemon June 29, 2009 at 12:46 am

And Robin is a man stop calling him “she”. I don’t know how many times he must have said it by now, I bet it’s tiring.

    • 166 Orpheline June 29, 2009 at 4:12 am

To be fair, ‘Robin’ is much more common as a woman’s name in the U.S. – men named Robin are rare. I’m sure roBurky is tired of correcting people, but they aren’t making that error just to be difficult or annoying.

    Robin’s a guy, people.

Wow…Kev is…probably the worst father in history.

Since he aged to an elder, Alice is due to be come an adult at any moment… Waiting for that moment. ^_^

The first thing she should do is move out.

  99. 172 Kortnie June 29, 2009 at 3:05 am

I’m hoping and praying that you will continue the story well past Kevin’s death. Maybe Alice having kids? Getting a career?

What kind of life could she have without her insane father?!

Also, I downloaded Kev and Alice. He won’t stop screaming at my shower…

  100. 173 saw June 29, 2009 at 3:20 am

  101. 174 Amy June 29, 2009 at 3:47 am

and sorry if I replied to TeamJacob’s comment instead of WickedPinkLemon’s…lol

and by the way, I know it says I posted at 3:41 a.m., but that’s the time in some part of the U.K., and I’m in America, so don’t think I stay up until 4:00 a.m. on the computer…it’s only 11:00 here, and I was watching a movie so I usually don’t even stay up this late on the computer…(but I still stay up this late reading and listening to my iPod…=^.^= <(^.^^.^)>

  102. 175 Morgs June 29, 2009 at 3:51 am

Why don’t you just stop now while you’re still ahead of the game.

  103. 176 Morgs June 29, 2009 at 3:52 am

That was to Amy. Not about the story. The story is awesome! Keep ’em coming

  104. 177 Amy June 29, 2009 at 3:55 am

GOD I didn’t think so many people would read such a long comment…and why the hell are people getting so worked up about it?!

  105. 178 pandascandles June 29, 2009 at 4:14 am

I added the teenage alice and kev to my current game. Just for fun I had my household go visit them. Weirdly enough kev had another kid, a baby, which they leave laying in the bushes. Alice has a job, and Kev is my boss in the criminal career!!! So yeah, they have made an interesting impact in my game, thanks!

    • 179 Moogley June 29, 2009 at 6:09 am

Do you know what the baby’s name is? Cause a lot of people are saying he has another one, and I’m curiose to know..

      • 180 saw June 29, 2009 at 7:55 am

        has another one? with whom?

      • 181 Samantha June 29, 2009 at 9:20 am

The baby’s name is different for everyone…someone said he had a daughter, another said he had a son. I heard there was a glitch that causes a person (npcs) to have a child despite the fact that they may have no partner. I think its to keep the living neighborhood alive so that families just don’t die off. In the ‘about’ comments a girl told about her alice and kev and after seeing a new child checked the family tree and said the child had no mother.

    • 182 Tor November 6, 2011 at 2:12 pm

This is because the engine requires the neighbourhood to have X amount of married couples or X amount of births, this will cause for example some npcs that don’t have fitting personalities to marry and get loads of children.

  106. 183 Trouble June 29, 2009 at 4:59 am

Do they get any rewards for having their wishes fulfilled (i.e. Kev wants to be mean to Alice and gets to do it). If they do, then you can buy them the rewards for ‘never hungry’ etc. But that would be cheating wouldn’t it?

  107. 184 Zepheera June 29, 2009 at 5:27 am

FYI Amy, some people, despite not being homeless, do not have anything extra to give to other people. Some people are living hand to mouth, and are working as hard as they can JUST to keep their home.

  108. 185 JaciJuiceBoxx June 29, 2009 at 7:47 am

Well when she turns into a young adult she should leave him and find a guy maybe have kid with him then treat them how she wishes Kev treated her!

  109. 186 saw June 29, 2009 at 7:52 am

hopefully the next post comes soon and NO people not cuz im stalking the website, just cuz i love Robin`s story

  110. 188 Celara June 29, 2009 at 7:59 am

Me too! I realize Robin does have a life outside the game and his story, but it’s like when you get really involved with a soap opera or a really good book. You just can’t wait to see what happens next!

  111. 189 Setari June 29, 2009 at 8:55 am

    Poor Alice.

Kev… words cannot describe the fury.

  112. 190 Phil June 29, 2009 at 7:02 pm

What is Alice feeling in the last screencap? A “blockhead”? “Cheesehead”? “Boxhead”?

  113. 191 thedirtforths June 30, 2009 at 2:21 am

Check out a spin-off to the popular Alice and Kev, http://www.thedirtforths.wordpress.com

  114. 192 GreenEyeLady June 30, 2009 at 2:57 pm

Okay, this is great. Seems that people react to homelessness in the game the same way they do in reality.
I’ve been homeless, with 3 children. We slept at other peoples houses, shelters, etc. It happens, and can happen with a speed that would amaze you. Especially in this day and time. Contrary to popular opinion, most homeless people are not “bums”. A little compassion would go a long way.
I applaud this storyline, what a way to bring attention to how and why this can happen. Open your eyes people, this truly, really happens, everyday in your community. Don’t reject it because it is ugly, it could happen to you. Do you want the world to reject you if you became homeless?

  115. 193 Sara July 24, 2009 at 10:20 pm

This almost made me cry. Hes so cruel to Alice. Poor girl even if she isnt real. I feel here sadness and pain. This is amazing great job.

  116. 194 Jess May 8, 2010 at 7:22 pm

But as a gamer I found it hillarious to see what the sims engine will do when you mess with it. Anyways great work.
