It’s possible that Robin is taking many events and many things and putting them into ‘days’. It’s quite possible that Alice has done some of these things different days than what is put together in the blog.
Though, I do think aging is probably off. xD

maybe they have the timeline set some where between norm and epic. it would still let people age but give more time for the game.
There’s such a thing as pause. each post doesn’t have to be the next day. could be in the same day. Take into consideration the last 2 posts. All the same day.
Aging has to be on. It hasn’t been long enough for Kev to die. Still have a few days to go.

I just find it funny that we’re having all these arguments over a game! Hahaha… I’m not saying that I don’t feel differently about other people’s views on this, I mean, I once threw my laptop on the floor because my sim wouldn’t say yes to a guy who proposed 5 times! You know, he’s a lot older than her. Wasn’t he an adult when she was a child? Or did he come into the picture when she was a teen? If it’s the former then perhaps them not getting together is for the best O_O
He’s not been the only nice person to her, there was that lady who helped her with her homework, he’s just the only one who stayed a part of the story. Althought I do agree, just because he hasn’t chosen to be with Alice doesn’t make him a bad guy, and the whole situation with Shirley hasn’t upset Alice any so why should it upset us? Shirley however has made it quite clear she doesn’t approve of Alice hanging around with Zed, first she was completely rude to her and now she’s taking the spare bed so that she’s forced to the couch…too bad Alice didn’t take the spot next to Zed in his bed and make that plan back fire on her (would of loved to see that).
Alice still has other options, if Zed doesn’t see how great a girl she is (or she doesn’t desire him at all that way) its not the end of the world.
But she can’t be in a relationship with the girl who helped her with her homework -that would be weird 😛

What about the possibility that he’s not blind, but that people can just have and enjoy what IS in a relationship, without having to make it into one of a very few archetypes of accepted ‘marital status’.
Why can’t Alice just live with Zed and cook him dinner and not be his girlfriend? Is that really so hard to deal with, especially given her upbringing? Or is it more that we’re obsessed with Alice “ending up” with someone stable, rather than having a stable life of her own (because that would be too scary to contemplate)?
Why is it so bad to think that they could end up together????? Zed is the only guy alice’s age that we know of, she’s not going to live forever, she should get on with her life!

Is it important to note that every time I’ve seen Alice sleep (bench, Zed’s spare bed, etc.), it’s been in her usual clothes? In that last picture of her sleeping on the couch, she seems to be wearing pajamas of some sort. Does this mean she’s actually sleeping “correctly” or is it just a fluke?
Probably just means she planned to sleep in a bed, got changed then got beaten to it… you can’t sleep ‘properly’ on anything but a bed.. she’s napping… (but LOOK she doesn’t smell!)
I don’t think Alice could handle a romantic relationship. She barely has enough to survive.

I’m a social worker and have worked a lot with homeless young people. Escaping homelessness by hooking up with the first guy who shows interest almost always ends up making things worse, not better, for homeless young women.

What an amazing phenomenon… people (including myself) feeling emotionally connected to characters who are, technically speaking, nothing more than “zeroes and ones” (meaning they’re digitally generated). Time was, folks connected with characters in television series or in books (prior to that, serialized newspaper tales a la Dickens–in the 1850s hundreds of people would wait at the docks for delivery of the latest Dickens newspaper serial). Now, we have a plot line which is largely computer generated, although admittedly with roBurky’s masterful touch in bringing dimension to these characters. This may well represent the beginnings of a whole new genre of entertainment.
Imagine decades from now… we’ll all have our own little programs for generating story lines with characters of our own choosing (or not) with which we will engage emotionally, since scripted drama is all but gone from broadcast media. I realize this already exists in the Sims world, but I can foresee this becoming much more sophisticated than it is now. And we’ll be able to watch the dramas unfold at whatever pace we choose. Perhaps all those writers who’ve been rendered jobless by reality TV will find new challenges in scripting cyberdramas.
Meanwhile, I’m still hooked and can’t wait for the next installment. I root for Alice in spite of myself. And I give big kudos to roBurky for creating this engrossing little experiment.

Wow. I’m fairly certain this is my first comment, but I just had to say that I was one of the many, many people on the Alice x Zed ship. However, it appears that this may not work out, and I’m just here to say that that is 100% okay. Very rarely do my Sims end up with the first possible romantic connection. Actually, one of my Sims ran through about eight possible lovers before hooking up with her current one [who I am hoping to have her marry and then kill off >:D]
Actually, I placed Alice in my game as an NPC kid and anm working on having her be best friends with my main character’s adpoted son. For now, it’s working out very cutely. One last question, though. Is Zed in the game or a created character? I don’t believe we’ve ever had this explained. ^^
I think on the download pagee it has him, it’s the author’s brother’s character I believe.

I’ve been following this blog from the start, and I have to say first and foremost how much I love the development of the characters. You have inspired me to get the game as well!
However, I think most of your readers would be behind me in saying that we wish the blogs would be longer now that they’re updated less frequently. The writing is stellar, the plot line is fabulously constructed, and the screen shots are some of the best I’ve ever seen. We understand that you are very busy with other things in your life, but it seems lately that this blog is becoming shorter and shorter.

The entries have always been short. Any perception of them shortening is just down to people reading the new material one page at a time instead of clicking through lots of pages in one sitting as they will have done when first discovering the blog.
I won’t be changing the format of the individual entries part way through.
I could get rid of the schedule, and just very (very) occasionally throw up a bunch of pages at once whenever I have the inspiration and time to do so. But I think that would introduce unwanted difficulties for returning readers to view new entries in sequence.
Please don’t get rid of the schedule! That make me frustrated and annoyed because i would wake and be like ALICE AND KEV TIME!!! YAY!!!! But then i would get to the blog and there would be none and i would say NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! And be sad for the rest of the day.
(I do wake on Mon,Wed and Fri looking forward to reading it but i don’t run threw out my house yelling it, theres alway someone sleeping.)
Personally I think the format is perfect, it usually leaves a fair bit up to the readers imagination, giving just the right amount of information.
I enjoy the blog immensely, gives me a chuckle while plugging away in my cubicle! Super job, keep up the good work mate!

I don’t know that the commenter meant “short” as in the length of the blog post. Personally, I find that the blog posts cover less and less each time. This one was only a few minutes in Alice’s life (two people made faces at each other and then everyone went to bed). The story line, since a story is what you’ve made it to be, is dragging out too slowly and now that people have to wait for an update every other day it seems that the posts are… well… lacking.
I get that you’re busy with other things. I get that you have a life and want to live it, and have changed the way you update the blog. I get it, I really do. The thing is that when you lose interest in a project it doesn’t mean that the people you’ve involved in that project lose interest as well. You can tell by the amount of comments you receive here that you’re a fantastic writer/story teller with a hell of a concept going on – something unique and witty and fun. Can you blame folks for wanting what you used to provide before you made the change?
I think Alice should go and find a new guy who can offer her more than a sofa. There must be some more hot seems out there for her…..?

Awww. Poor Alice. I downloaded this family and my outcome has been extreamly different…. In my story when Alice was a teen her father had a break down and told her why he disliked her so much. It seems as he was once so in love with her mother. But during delivery she passed away. And he’d been blaming Alice every since he first saw her. So He decided that he wanted to change. So after intensive threopy and getting to know his daughter he changed. He’s a family-oriented, neurotic, insane,natural cook who’s a hard worker. Alice also has a rich boyfriend who wants to marry her when they became young adults. On Alice’s birthday he proposed… He asked her to move in as well as Kevin. They are doing much better… Did I mention that Kev is now over emotional as well. He has this times when he thinks about how he treated Alice that he breaks down and cries…..

It’s funny how people make up their minds about how some characters are indelibly good while others are evil, even if the offending character hasn’t actually done anything wrong.
The way people assume that Alice is “too meek” or “too nice” to “fight for her man” is also interesting to note. The idea that maybe she’s just not that into Zed, or is just being nice to him to get a place to sleep (because in the past she’s shown she’s not above that kind of manipulation) doesn’t even register.

Sorry this is random but have you ever noticed the glitch where when 2 sims kiss they never hit the mouth? It always looks like one sim is kissing the other’s eye while having their chin kissed

I just disovered this about an hour ago and I’ve read through this entire story and I’m amazed! This truly is a wonderful story. It’s inspired me to try and create my own stories in The Sims 3 … as well as be more aware of what it’s like for homeless people in real life who are often shunned by the rest of society. Even though it’s just a story using sims, it’s just like any movie/story, and hopefully it will help more people realize that there are lot’s of good people out there who struggle every day like Alice!
Since the blog started back in June, when I got to the middle of the story I was getting worried that it would end but I’m glad to see it still goes on! I’ll certainly be checking on it every day now lol! I look forward to the updates =)

I think that alice should find someone different besides zed….he is kinda freaky. She should get somebody who LOOKS GOOD and isn’t so full of himself. I mean, come on! He spends 3 hours looking at himself in the mirror! kinding, i dod’t actually know how long he spends in the mirror, but still, Alice doesn’t seem to have a romantic interest for him. Oh, but one time, my sim was a teen, and i used a cheat to age her and her boyfriend, so they were adults (on sims 2). But then, her boyfriend had the want to flirt with her MOM!! Lol! So, i used a cheat to age the mom, but then, i accidently put the cheat in twice, and she DIED!! It was really funny, and i’m only saying that cause one of the comments was that alice would marry zed then zed would turn into a elder.
I think Alice is actually pretty happy. Look at her face. She has a cool friend who is letting her stay at his place. She doesn’t mind that he’s got a girlfriend, she just does her own thing, reading or doing other stuff.
Just shows how mature she is about life. Or maybe she’s a lesbian, which would be awesome.

Whoa…. I went back to the beginning and KEV HAS ALWAYS HAD A WEDDING RING! I sense a plot twist concerning Kev and Alice’s mother (is it just me or is it weird that you can make sims with only one parent, i mean not against single parenting but dont you need two sims to HAVE a baby?) Awww… Alice as a baby. 🙂
Just so you all know, the author probably did not turn off aging, he simply does not play the game every single day for about 6 hours. Also, why does noone have pity for Kev? I feel that he deserves some sympathy from the crowd. Mick Jagger had sympathy for the devil, and I have sympathy for Kev. He is a single homeless parent (not real, in a game, but ya know) who was clearly not meant to raise a child, but trying to raise a daughter who has mostly traits conflicting with his. I do feel sorry for Alice because she has not had much good happen to her throughout this entire story, but she gets sympathy from everyone.
I feel sympathy for Kev, too! But when I’ve been reading the comments I’ve got the feeling that in fact there are quite many people who like Kev O_O

LOL, I’m playing sims waaay too much too XD I just never get tired… there has been periods when I haven’t played it so much, but after a while I get exited of it again O_O I played sims 2 until sims 3 came out (I would still play sims 2, if the hard-drive of that computer where I had it wouldn’t have broken) and I guess that I’ll play sims 3 until sims 4 is out?? maybe I play sims too much as well since I’ve been playing sims since the first expansion pack ever and when I play I play for hours at a time…nearly every day if possible….yeah I’m lifeless, lol.

Ok. I really need to anwser this question because no one else is. I’m pretty sure zed is a townie. They’re randomly created and don’t have a home(don’t ask why zed does. I haven’t gotten that far). Townies are just random people. Babysitters, the police who catch kids out after curfew, firefighters, taxi and limo drivers, etc. etc.
No relativity what so ever but every taxi driver my sims get is either an incredibly beautiful young woman with creepy eyes or a hansome middle aged man losing his hair(also with wierd eyes). :0

I’m sure that if you download it illegally, it will have A LOT of glitches (even the real game has) plus you’ll get viruses and what not! Besides, you can’t update it on the sims 3 site! I think the game is totally worth it’s price and you should buy it legally from a shop!

Its freakin monday
This is dying a slow, slow death. The updates have lost a lot of excitement and aren’t really funny anymore and they moved from one per day to three per week. Supposed to be one today but there isn’t. It just seems that the guy who does this is getting a bit fed up with it. I doubt it will continue much longer.

Actually Nicole he hasn’t quit on us. If you had read the next post he actually said that he was taking a break and looking forward to bringing the story to a satisfying conclusion. Now that could be nezt week or even three years from now. I definitely didnt get the sense that he was quitting on us or Alice and Kev.
The amount of publicity I have seen for this blog online is amazing, its no wonder roburky has had to take time to process everything. I bet he never knew that a little experiment he created to test the limitations of a video game would become so popular and even be seen as a tool to educate people on the perils of homelessness.
I mean each year tv shows go on hiatus so that writers can come up with new stories, yet you dont see people claiming that the writers have “let them down.”
Lets remember that roburky chose to share this with us. He didnt have to he wasnt obligated to, just as he is not obligated to post an update everyday.
Personally I would like to see this story progress in a logical and natural (as natural as you can get for a videogame:D )way, instead of having to read through posts that are unplanned and inane such as “Alice goes to the toilet” or “Kev meets Elvis” (ok maybe not) as roburky tries to please the masses just for the sake of it.
Im happy to give him some time to plan out more posts and Im sure one day soon we’ll be enjoying Alice and Kev once again.

Why do people say you don’t have a life because you follow this blog and are sad it’s over? It’s putting a little spice in your life, just because it was something over the computer doesn’t make it any different. He HAS let us down, but we understand. Doesn’t mean we can’t be upset. People need to grow up; “OMG you don’t have a life, you loser.” People saying that DON’T have a life. Don’t they have better things to do then attack people for being passionate about something?

If Alice really needs a shower, my own homeless sims suggest the public pool, they have showers there, as well as toilets, sunbeds to sleep on and people cook food and leave it. One of the sims practiclly lives there.
All lot of people are complaining.. you know this is done for fun, without any profit right, and that we should be thankful for it, and not throw hissy fits when the author has stuff going on in real life and can’t update all the time

perhaps the reason it stopped is that it wasn’t turning out to be a happy ending at all, and the author did not want to dissapoint those who have become very attached to the Alice’s character

Even an unhappy ending is better then none. I can’t wait to see if this is continued because it is absolutely wonderful.
Meh. This hasn’t been updated in what is virtually an eternity in Internet Time…so I’ve washed my hands of it. It was good while it lasted, but it’s fallen with a colossal thunk. Proceed to de-Favorite “Alice and Kev.”

I don’t want to be selfish or complain but I’m getting so tired of waiting for this to be updated. I think he should quit it if he is so busy. I understand he has things to do other them this but its been a month since he last updated it. Or a little bit less then a month. Yes, I agree that Roburky has his own life and has other things he wants to do, and that he wants to “perfect” it more, (I understand this especially because I’m a perfectionist too and have the same problem)
but really! The people who are saying over and over again, “he has his own life,” “thats ok he needs the time off” etc. etc., we all know that! Duh!

I wish I could make a story cause i need some time off from my OWN life. My life is constant working. School,homework,chores,band.piano and soccer. I have homework,band practice, and chores everyday. Chores take about 2 and a half hours band practice in school takes about an hour but at home only 30 minutes. Homework takes about an hour or more (I get lots of homework cause my teachers r mean 😦 LOL. So if I could make a sims story and not do anything else (except homework and school) then I’d gladly update at least 3 times a week. Sadly thats my fantasy world. lol nice fantasy huh? Well I’m a huge sim fan. K later homework and chores time.
It is annoying, I can understand everyones frustration definitely but at the same time, if your life revolves around people updating blogs for games, perhaps you need a new life. I realize its hard not to get into the characters and the story, I do it all the time in my games but at the end of the day it is a game and the person updating is a person with a busy life I’m sure. He does this for FREE. Perhaps people should be thankful he had this this blog in the first place instead of complaining and looking at what they want first.
Be glad you have something to do Sara! I am usually homebound because of my anti-social disorder, was born with it, really sucks man. 😦

I will be linking your legacy on my site so I can keep track of your updates and such. The entire story is incredibly sad but endearing and I love how you choose to raise awareness about the fact that there are people that live day to day wondering where their next meal will come from. & the fact that you have such a noble main character is especially fascinating because I’m sure that most people in her situation would be well, not as nice :/. Most people would probably act like her father and that’s sad because under different circumstances he might even be a nice guy. I really hope things get better for her, and even her father, to show that through hard work you can overcome obstacles. Thanks for the fabulous blog and keep up the good work!

I think this has ended. Maybe Robin or Roburky forgot about this story. I doubt he did but its possible. Wow I can’t believe two months have passed. No update. Wow. I just hope hes having fun in his real life.

I wasnt being rude, just wanted to let you know it was 1 month, but it does feel like much longer, I was surprised myself to scroll up and see that it was indeed only 1 month.
sorry I hadn’t got much sleep. I stay up till 3 and sleep till 6:20 and get ready for school. I do some homework, eat, play on the computer, take a shower, etc. I guess I was the rude one. Sorry. It seemed like 2 months also.

Even if its only been one month..to have so many updates, then it suddenly stops for a month..that’s a sign of lack of interest and abandoning the story..

I hope it isn’t the end. I havent got the Sims 3 yet, because i havent got the money. So this is the only thing thats keeping me entertained.
I hope it isn’t the end but at the same time, I see chap’s point and he is right that even though it’s been only a month, thats a sign of lack of interest. Not to mention Roburky probably has other projects he/she’s doing as well as a busy real life to maintain. I will say this story was great while it lasted and I will continue to wait in case he ever decides to come back to it.
