Independence

Not wanting to be a burden on others, Alice has started trying to buy all of her meals at the diner near the warehouse. It costs $12, but it tastes better than her own cooking, and it feels honest.

Being without a proper bed again means Alice’s job performance is dropping. She’s not coming out of work feeling good.

But she’s still getting the urge to donate after almost every day at work. Dropping that envelope into the nearest mailbox is her greatest source of comfort. It’s what makes it all worthwhile.

Many of the other residents of the town still aren’t very understanding of her situation.

But there are still a few familiar faces around the town that are sympathetic to her. Even if Alice doesn’t realise it.

Next: Thankless

Starting today, Alice and Kev is switching to an update schedule of three days a week. You will find new entries here on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

I’m hoping this will give me the time to consider each update more carefully, and keep each entry interesting in the future. It will also hopefully allow me to start work again on my other projects, which have been on hold since Alice and Kev began.

A more rapid update schedule may return if I get particularly far ahead in pre-prepared entries again.

Thank you to everyone who continues to follow the blog. The response to this has been amazing, and you’ve turned my life upside down.

    • 2 Alice and Kev Fan July 15, 2009 at 6:02 pm

      Bless you RoBurky!

And what a touching update! Looking forward to Friday!

This experiment has held me spellbound. Thanks roburky for the update info. I’ll miss the daily updates but I understand your need for a life beyond the Sim world. I’m glad you’re continuing the blog, and will be following to the end.

    • 4 Pat Kight July 15, 2009 at 6:41 pm

Thanks for letting us know. You’ve created a whole community of Alice and Kev addicts, but you can’t let this eat your life.

    • 5 something July 15, 2009 at 6:41 pm

you need some youtime (do i have permisson to advertise this on myspace???????????????????????)

    • 7 Tom July 15, 2009 at 6:49 pm

Cool. I’m still loving this blog. What other projects?

      • 8 roBurky July 15, 2009 at 6:55 pm

I have a life simulation game made in flash that I really need to finish.

I’m also inspired by the response to this blog and some of the things I’ve learnt from others since starting it, and am considering making a game about homelessness, based on proper research.

      • 9 Arxsyn July 18, 2009 at 10:47 am

Cool. The school I go to and the program I wish to enroll in [“Interactive Arts & Technology”] has an interactive game about poverty designed by a grad. I played it myself for an open house event. Low key graphics, but the point was made. Life isn’t easy when you have no place to live and basically your f/t job is to survive in only securing the necessities of life [roof over your head (albeit temporary), food, scrounging money, “facilities”, etc,]

Looking forward to your own stamp on a social reality game, Roburky!!!

Love what you’ve been doing so far with the story; it’s obviously touched many of us deeply. I really look forward to seeing how you develop Alice and Kev’s story further.

      Robin,

The blog has been truly amazing, and I will continue to follow it on the new schedule. I wish you all the best on your other endeavors, and look forward to the continuation of this very heart touching story.

Just wanted to say I love your blog. Keep it up! Sims3 is quite amazing. Olivia (New Zealand)

      • 19 Nadine July 16, 2009 at 9:53 pm

That game on homelessness sounds interesting…If it does come out, I would love to try it. I am rather controlling in playing my simmies, I admire your ability to let them be themselves.

    • 20 Sims 3 Fan July 17, 2009 at 1:34 am

I love this story so much!!!!…I’m addicted πŸ˜€

    • 21 Holly July 17, 2009 at 5:02 am

Thanks I’ll miss everyday updates but I understand. Life is more than sims (Much much more!) anyway I hope you have fun working on your other projects. Monday,Wednesday, and Friday are perfect days. Love the story always will but when you end it close it with a BANG!

      • 22 Amber July 17, 2009 at 11:06 pm

First, I love alice and kev.

Second, I know you have a life that you have to live, and you can’t keep doing this everyday, but to express my disappointment…well, at first, I looked like Yvette in “Easier to Beg Forgiveness” when kev proposed to her, then Alice in “Exhastion” when Anita rejected her. After a few seconds I nearly ended up like Kev in the last pic in “Dawn.”

I’m sorry if I offended anyone, sorry if anyone disagrees with me (and I know some one will) and sorry for making everyone going berserk trying to find these pics. I’m autistic, so I’m verbally challenged and sometimes also have trouble writing what I think and mean. That’s why I try to write, illustrate my stories, and forget about writing. πŸ™‚

Didn’t mean to get everybody annoyed at me for making them read all this, but…oh, I’m rambling. Sorry!

        ~Amber~

  2. 23 Delinda July 15, 2009 at 5:59 pm

Thankyou Ro. This has been a fascinating journey. I look forward to seeing what lies in store for Alice and Kev next. This experiment will make a good masters thesis one day, don’t you think? Best, Delinda

  3. 26 Requienna July 15, 2009 at 6:05 pm

I think what you are offering us is amazing. I’m still not sure how I will be able to live with only three updates per week, but I can totally understand that you need time for other things πŸ™‚
I’m looking forward to friday! (Although I think I’ll check tomorrow, just because the habit is too strong ^^)

    • 27 JessieeKatiee July 15, 2009 at 6:08 pm

nooo pleaaaaaase keep on doing it dailyy
i β™₯ alice + kev (kev, not so much xD)

      • 28 Jaclyn July 15, 2009 at 7:48 pm

He has a life. He can’t put other important things on hold because his blog is popular. I think it’s really cool of him to at least still be continuing it at all.

      • 29 Kasey is Alice & Kev's BiggestFan!!!!!!! July 16, 2009 at 12:24 am

You know, Alice & Kev are video game charecters. The Sims3 &Sims2 are video games. RoBurky cant spend 24/7 on the video game, plus sence the blog entries arnt daily, the blog will last longer, because, one day Kev, Alice, Z, and many others, will die.

      • 30 sixseventrooper July 16, 2009 at 1:12 am

i agree with.. *scrolls* Jacklyn. Maybe he has important things to do other than go on a computer all day. Like, maybe, JUST maybe, he has a thing called a LIFE. (I don’t have one though πŸ˜› )

  4. 31 bigman July 15, 2009 at 6:06 pm

It will be nice to know when the updates are coming. Having a regular schedule should also help the consistency.

Love the story. Keep it up.

  5. 32 MerryAnn33 July 15, 2009 at 6:06 pm

RoBurky, thanks for all of your amazing work with this project. It is my new daily (now to be not so daily) addiction. I’m fascinated by the twists and turns of how these characters are evolving through the game. I can’t wait to set up my own Bin-Diver family to see how they develop.

    • 33 Maddi July 15, 2009 at 6:45 pm

I know! I’ve been checking every day for more than a month now. I finally got Riverview to work in my game, so I might consider moving Alice and Kev in and having my Manplant’n legacy family take care of her.

  6. 34 Sayoni July 15, 2009 at 6:07 pm

THIRD. ok. sorry. anyway it sucks that you let alice donate her money…the sims aren’t suppose to live on their own, they need GUIDANCE(sp?). really awesome blog though, keep up the good work.
p.s.-it’s really stupid what Alice is doing. how can she expect to escape from poverty and stop depending on others if she keeps giving her money away…oh wow. i just realiazed she’s just a video game character ;-D

  7. 39 gvx July 15, 2009 at 6:13 pm

Who is that woman in the last picture? Do we know her?

And Robin: good luck with your life and all :). Some time ago, I already wondered how long you could keep up with this crazy update schedule.

    ~Robin.

  8. 42 Chelsea July 15, 2009 at 6:16 pm

As long as he keeps going with this im fine with that ,this is a really good blog.

  9. 43 usualroutine July 15, 2009 at 6:16 pm

Wait… is that twelve bucks a DAY? That’s… an awful lot of money, even if it is good food. And I can kinda see why Alice wants to donate all that money; she figures, maybe HER childhood would’ve been better if someone else had done so, and she’s thus doing it because she knows how bad poverty can be. Or something like that.

  10. 45 Moneer July 15, 2009 at 6:19 pm

    One word for ur blog…
    AMAZING
I mean come on, i havnt seen anyone else create such an amazing blog… Your doing great roburky. An im rlly glad u finnaly are taking some time off for urself.. You deserve it : D

Ur blog was so great it inspired me to write my own.. still a work in progress.. Its about four brother living in a town of gangs fiting off and trying to make themselves better lives…. they live in a run down small house on the edge of riverview… just thought u should kno how u inspired me to write it : D thx

  11. 46 OneHappyAtheist July 15, 2009 at 6:22 pm

Still loving this blog. You’ve actually inspired me to ease up on the control of my Sims and create different combinations of Sims. (My current ones are a pair of Eco-Friendly females and a couple which I’ve dubbed “Opposites Attract”.) Fun stuff! And now I will know to check out Alice and Kev when I check out my xkcd.

  12. 47 zworg2 July 15, 2009 at 6:34 pm

    superb as always.

regular predictably timed updates very welcome.
i wont worry about missing one!

thx to RoBurky for doing and everyone for participating in comments.

long may this blog continue (well till Sims4 anyway!)

the funiest moment ever is the monkey licking its eyeball!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!(please reply and tell me your opinyin)

  14. 52 Mike July 15, 2009 at 6:39 pm

Great entry. Does the lady to whom Kev proposed have a soft spot for Alice? Since she has dealt with crazy Kev, she is one of the few people who can truly sympathize with her.

  15. 53 Sarah July 15, 2009 at 6:43 pm

Um, where’s Alice getting all this money? If she’s paying $12 a day for food (or is that $12 a meal – if so, what kind of diner is this??) and donating all her paycheck to charity, and Kev’s not around…?

That said, I think the three-times-a-week schedule is still awesome and hopefully it will cut back on people’s whining. They don’t realize how long it takes just to go through one day in Sims time – and that’s before the creative process!

    • 54 Pantalones July 16, 2009 at 1:41 am

You obviously don’t play the sims 3, because you have no grasp on what the horly salary is like. Well let me tell you, it’s pretty expansive next to a real-life paycheck. (I have a character that has a part-time job at the cemetary that now pays 132 per hr!)

  16. 56 wallynally July 15, 2009 at 6:45 pm

I’ve been following Kev & Alice for some time now, but I haven’t responded untill now. I do love the story though, and I want you to continue with it. I have wrote a few stories my self. So I know how hard it is to think of something new for the story. Keep up the good work.

  17. 57 Taylor July 15, 2009 at 6:48 pm

wow i can’t wait for friday!! Hope something awesome happens! thanx for doing this dude, it’s really cool. Now I’ll start to love mondays again! Lol

  18. 58 Will July 15, 2009 at 6:54 pm

This is the single greatest blog ever, I’m grateful for the update schedule we’ve had so far and I look forward to other greatness in the future!

  19. 59 Mymsan July 15, 2009 at 7:08 pm

roBurky: what graphics settings do you have in the sims3 game and do you have any tips for taking better pictures in the game?

    • 60 roBurky July 15, 2009 at 7:11 pm

I think they’re all on highest.

I pause the game when I think there’s a good situation for a screenshot, then move the camera around and take screenshots from all angles. I then look through those shots later for the best one I took of that subject, and discard the rest.

  20. 61 Chelsea July 15, 2009 at 7:18 pm

Ill be looking forward to Friday! Keep up the good work

  21. 62 Alisa July 15, 2009 at 7:21 pm

You’ve got us hooked and we thank you for sharing alice and kev to us…thanks for letting us know, and hope you finish the simulation game soon πŸ™‚

  22. 63 monstrosity July 15, 2009 at 7:24 pm

Those jeans are looking mighty shredded – Alice might want to spend some of her money on a new pair. Are there thrift stores in the Sims?

    • 64 sixseventrooper July 16, 2009 at 1:19 am

in the dresser you can change clothes for free. πŸ™‚

      • 65 celara July 16, 2009 at 3:34 am

Unfortunately, I don’t think Alice has a dresser back at the park. If she tried to go into a dresser at someone’s house, it might be considered inappropriate and she’d be kicked out.

      • 66 OneHappyAtheist July 17, 2009 at 6:30 am

        @celara:

I’m annoyed to find that it’s considered “inappropriate” to fix another Sims appliances when they’re broken. *boggle* That makes no sense at all! I mean, it did the first time when I tried fixing a sink one of the others broke (my Sim was in the bathroom and someone needed to go), but when their TV broke, my Sim -still- received the warning about him being inappropriate. How sad is that? I’d think it was a GOOD thing to do, y’know?

  23. 67 Lord dA jOsh July 15, 2009 at 7:25 pm

    3 a week? Weak 😦

But since it’s not ME writing it, I guess I can’t complain. And while I hope you enjoyed the drawn out story about how Alice’s son, (Cooper, Which was a play on words im not sure anyone got…) is taken by Alice away from Zed and they run away until the story devolves into heroin and cough syrup addiction!!

    hehe

Although I’d say only maybe 2 people REALLY read it and had something to say about it.

  24. 71 Daghain July 15, 2009 at 7:40 pm

Wow, I’m going to go through withdrawal! Glad you’re taking some time for yourself though!

  25. 72 kimpauley July 15, 2009 at 7:42 pm

First time commenting. I’ve been following for a while now (to the detriment of my own writing, but there you go…I’m almost happy you’re going to 3 a week). I’ve seen a few more Alice & Kev type experiments pop up and they all seem to have one thing in common (though perhaps it is directly from copying). They all make the adult sim both insane and a hater of children.

If you do pursue some type of simulation game on homelessness (which I think sounds like an interesting idea, especially after following this blog), I hope that you’ll think about having some different characteristics for them other than just insane (or hater of children) since neither are necessarily in the province of homelessness. Certainly there are insane homeless people, but there are many there through circumstance alone.

If I had the time (or a PC capable of running Sims 3) I’d be curious to start up a simulation with some homeless Sims where the adult isn’t insane and doesn’t hate children. Likely with the unlucky trait or similar. Without much interference, where would they wind up?

At any rate, good job with this. It’s very interesting.

    • 73 roBurky July 15, 2009 at 8:21 pm

If I did this game about homelessness, one of its focuses would be on the wide variety of situations that can lead to someone becoming homeless.

Alice and Kev was begun as a story about a game told to friends and has found itself become a champion for raising awareness of homelessness entirely by accident. This homelessness game would, in contrast, not be begun without a lot of research beforehand.

      • 74 Victoria Rose July 15, 2009 at 11:58 pm

One thing I’ve always wished EA would do in The Sims is put in place the ability to create physically or intellectually disabled Sims. Somehow, I doubt they will ever do this. You, on the other hand, may want to consider this when you make your homelessness simulation game. People in wheelchairs, using walkers or canes or crutches (metal or wood), people missing limbs, people physically one age but mentally a younger one. This would certainly add to the verisimilitude, wouldn’t you think?

  26. 75 Emore July 15, 2009 at 7:46 pm

Great update. πŸ˜€ Keep up the great work, I love this blog. <33

  27. 76 A-Sha July 15, 2009 at 7:52 pm

Aww, Alice’s story never failed to touch my heart. But she’s too kind. It’s sweet that other people still care about her.

  28. 77 Kinnakeet July 15, 2009 at 8:02 pm

Thanks for keeping this thing going. It’s engrossing and provocative and has provided endless fodder for discussion at my dinner table. Good luck and enjoy being productive in other areas! This blog is a treat.

  29. 78 Rachel July 15, 2009 at 8:02 pm

I have been thinking about the donating. Sim households only have one “account” don’t they? Maybe she is donating everything she has in order to keep Kev’s hands off of it?

  30. 79 Annie July 15, 2009 at 8:10 pm

Since when does Alice have shoes? Yay!

  31. 80 Rodier1128 July 15, 2009 at 8:22 pm

I can’t tell you how much I love this story. I hope alice gets a family soon and has kids ^___^

if not i will be sadface

  32. 81 Meredith July 15, 2009 at 8:30 pm

This story is so cool! Im going to miss updates everyday. I aggree with your thinking that people will consider the posts more carefuly! Keep up the awsome work!

  33. 82 leechbites July 15, 2009 at 8:48 pm

hah! i love alices face in the 4th one.

going to miss the daily updates but i understand you have a life=]

  34. 83 Agnes July 15, 2009 at 8:58 pm

This is a really wonderful blog! I just love the idea of letting your sims loose and seeing what they can do; this just makes the game look so realistic. I don’t have the Sims 3 yet, and I wasn’t planning to get them, but you inspired me to actually get the game! It would definetly be cute if Alice found someone for herself and have kids ^^ I’m sorry, I just have a really romantic way of thinking….

  35. 84 Seolyk July 15, 2009 at 9:22 pm

You have such a good writing style for this, I can’t wait for friday now!

  36. 85 Robert July 15, 2009 at 9:41 pm

Ok, just curious. Is Robin Burkinshaw a boy or a girl? I’ve seen past commentors refer to roBurky as both He and She. It’s sort of driving me insane. lol

No offense is intended. I’ve scanned the site to see if a gender was identified but didnt find anything, if it’s to personal of a question don’t worry about it.

  37. 87 FLOWDANGO July 15, 2009 at 9:43 pm

After reading this awesome Drama, I bought the Sims 3 and would love for this website to some how update the age of each character, and perhaps the list of traits. The reasons the ages would be cool is when they are aging you can kind of tell when a sim will have the grim reaper knockig at the door. It would be cool. I know Kev is an elder, and that means his end is coming soonish.

    Love this though!

  38. 91 playerchad757 July 15, 2009 at 10:04 pm

I lβ™₯ve Alice and Kev SO MUCH! I think I’m addicted!

  39. 92 Patali July 15, 2009 at 10:12 pm

Can anyone link me to some other blogs or expirments of ts3?

RoBurky, do you plan on extending this throughout Alice’s life, or just do it ’till you lose interest.?

    • 93 roBurky July 15, 2009 at 10:34 pm

I want there to be a satisfying conclusion to the story. I can’t say when that will be, though.

      • 94 Kansine July 16, 2009 at 12:25 pm

I think it’s good that you realize that you don’t have time to update this every day, and don’t force yourself to do so! If you’d force yourself to continue the story, the quality of it would certainly become bad! But until now, it has been great! πŸ™‚ Thank you so much, I ❀ this blog!

    • 95 Amber July 18, 2009 at 3:16 pm

On the official sims 3 website, there’s a story series called ‘Little Girl Lost” about a young girl with her KIND, CARING father (hint, hint, kev) out all alone.

  40. 96 Bee July 15, 2009 at 10:14 pm

I’ll be looking forward to Friday.
My friend sent me a link to this blog and now I’m addicted. πŸ™‚

I’m sad that they won’t be daily anymore…
I kinda wish that you didn’t have to have a life. How selfish can I be?

    😦

  42. 99 Travis July 15, 2009 at 10:54 pm

good job. its like a soap opera that makes you watch it every day cus your drawn to it and it also has a cliffhanger friday as well. to bad about the three days.but a mans gotta do what a mans gotta do

  43. 100 Mythos July 15, 2009 at 11:00 pm

Good call with the thrice-a-week updates – I was starting to feel the daily updates might become monotonous as they were.

    I love that last screen.

  44. 101 Treena July 15, 2009 at 11:05 pm

awww…. at least now i’ll know exactly when there will be a new posting…. but, still…. tho that homelessness game sounds very interesting!

  45. 102 Walls July 15, 2009 at 11:31 pm

What’s all this about having a life? I insist you stop everything and create more blog posts!

Completely understand, though I’m going to miss the daily posts. πŸ™‚

  46. 103 Ingrid July 15, 2009 at 11:34 pm

Exposing yourself to the public can turn your life inside-out. Most people are decent but I’ve learned from experience that there area as many kinds of people out there as one can imagine and many kinds one never did. And the over 5 billion of us about means there are plenty of each kind — plenty enough to grab hold of your life and turn it upside down.

I guess this means you won’t have time to read our posts much anymore…

    Au revoir to naivete, eh?

Thank you so much for what you’ve already given to us, your public. We enjoy it and I hope we’ve treated you well.

And I still want to adopt you. :p

poor Alice doesn’t know how much she need that money

  48. 105 chickie July 15, 2009 at 11:52 pm

just a quick thanks for all the work youve done on this.

it is highly entertaining and ive learned a few things about sims3 and about life.

  49. 106 Addie July 15, 2009 at 11:59 pm

For those of you who have been following since the beginning — If you haven’t yet taken the opportunity to go back to the beginning and reminisce about where it all began, you should do so: https://aliceandkev.wordpress.com/2009/06/09/alice-and-kev/

Seeing the last frame of Alice as a child and looking at the kind woman that she’s become is amazing. It’s sort of like watching your own family grow and change right in front of your eyes.

    I love this blog!

  50. 107 Lescentive July 16, 2009 at 12:04 am

thanks for the information roburky.. glad you posted a schedule of somekind and i am grateful you are continuing the blog.

I have an evil sim who constantly donates her 100 to a charity that undermines something.. its hilarious..

I have had her come in contact with kev, they seem to be hitting off being hot-tempered and all that in common. Plus she is a heartbreaker which seals the deal.

thanks again for a great read..

your blog is inspiration for one of mine.. It is still in the process, the story line and all that.. sigh..

oh no! only three times a week?! im going to die from being ever so impatient! tee-hee.

i like how youve been doing it. is your audience complaining how you work and blog? because if so…dont let it get to you…if they want to bitch about your style…they can either stop reading…or make their own blog.

you already made TONS of fans πŸ™‚

  53. 110 Little Miss Smile July 16, 2009 at 3:23 am

Aw, I’m sad about the update, but thanks for the amazing posts. I’ll continue to follow for sure; you have such amazing talent for writing. Also, thanks for the schedule, even though I’ll forget and check back daily. Thanks so much!!

  54. 111 Kamie July 16, 2009 at 4:30 am

This is amazing, and I love your ability with words.

  55. 112 andrew July 16, 2009 at 4:31 am

Updates are updates, Roburky. Thanks for even doing this whole crazy thing! πŸ™‚

  56. 113 ashenflowers July 16, 2009 at 4:41 am

    I love reading this πŸ™‚
It’s really getting me itching to get Sims 3, but my computer can’t run it. lol Thanks so much for sharing Alice and Kev’s lives with us. They are amazing!

  57. 114 Victoria Rose July 16, 2009 at 5:02 am

roBurky, it occurs to me that you never told us what trait Alice gained when she became a young adult. You told us that you made her initially as clumsy, good, and loser(?) and that as a teenager she became unlucky, but what did she become as a young adult?

Thanks so much for the continuing story.

  58. 115 Jackrabbit July 16, 2009 at 7:18 am

I see she has shoes at last.

  59. 116 littlefriend July 16, 2009 at 8:56 am

Brilliant! I’ve never left a comment on anything like this before but your story is so well crafted I had to say something. I am totally engrossed and eagerly anticipate your next update!

  60. 117 tezby July 16, 2009 at 9:58 am

You know, I wonder – could that old lady be her – mother??

Keep up the great work. I love this story!

  61. 118 Scrab July 16, 2009 at 11:54 am

Now I first noticed she’s got shoes! Where did she get them from? πŸ˜•

  62. 119 Flo July 16, 2009 at 2:06 pm

Thanks for turning this into a schedule. Working and finishing your other projects is a good thing. πŸ™‚ It’s good to also know that you aren’t neglecting that part of your life.

Keep up with the good storytelling! That will help with your future game designs for sure. πŸ˜€

  63. 120 Mark July 16, 2009 at 3:56 pm

Good call RoBurky, take your time with your story!

You don’t want it to start rambling aimlessly which is what sims will do if left to their own programming. heh.

My sims are just now am able to make Ambrosia which is kind of a game-ending event.

I wonder what “ending” Alice and Kev will come to? I will keep reading to find out!

Alice could take up gardening and grow food for both herself and Kev!

    • 121 CGB July 16, 2009 at 3:59 pm

When I played with Alice and Kev, I did have Kev steal fruit from the Langeraks and grow it. It’s an easy way to keep humger up. I also had Kev sell insects to the science facility to earn money.

  64. 122 CGB July 16, 2009 at 3:58 pm

I’ve come to really like this series.

Oh, who am I kidding, I liked it since I started reading it, when Alice was still a kid.

RoBurky, you’re a talented writer and I’m a big fan.

Also, did you see the lady in the last photo? She was the lady who helped Alice with her homework as a kid.

  65. 123 Mckazz July 16, 2009 at 5:13 pm

Isnt the woman in the last picture the one that helped Alice with her homework that one time?

  66. 124 alexander divina July 16, 2009 at 7:16 pm

thanks for alice and kev! my girlfriend and i didnt’t know it was possible to feel so much empathy for animated pixels until we started reading your blog.

  67. 125 Jamie July 16, 2009 at 8:03 pm

I’ve always thought if someone made a life simulation game for high school students about the choices you make in life (teenage pregnancy, college, no college, etc.) they could make money by selling them to schools, parents, etc. Just something to think about. If I could figure out hot to make a game, let alone life simulation I would do it but since I can not I will leave it up to the experts. πŸ™‚ Good Luck and I LOVE your blog on Kev and Alice. I am an addict and will also be staying tuned until the end. I personally don’t believe Alice will find true solstice until Kev has left for the after life but even then he might haunt her then for the rest of her life. That would be very sad.

  68. 126 Jackie July 16, 2009 at 9:36 pm

I’ve been addicted for a long time! Thanks so much for giving me something else to look forward to!

I love Alice and loath, though, empathize for Kev.

    xoxo

First of all… i LOVE this blog. Ofcourse I made my own homeless characters aswell. But they weren’t this insane and soon got money to slowly build a house. I gave him a guitar to be a street musician, and ver easily, a lot of money can be made that way!

I’m very interested in your next project. The game about homeless. You see how many people here are actually interested and feel with those people. Even Kev gets some sympathy here and there. Would it be an idea to connect your game to a charity fund for homeless people. Maybe use some real people for the characters in your game and players who can actually donate real money to improve their lives. Or is this politically incorrect? Well… i think some kind of connection would be nice. :D.

Keep up the good work! Ill keep following your story!

  70. 128 Nicole July 16, 2009 at 10:22 pm

RoBurky, I am not sure if you are aware of thesims3.com (which you probably are)
but I think maybe you should try doing a legacy story.
I think you would make one very interesting.

  79. 137 celara July 17, 2009 at 7:31 am

    @ OneHappyAthiest:

    ?

Actually I agree with you about thinking that fixing someone’s broken stuff would be appreciated rather than considered inappropriate. You’re doing them a favor, and unless they have some kind of mania about fixing broken stuff, you’d think they could at least show some appreciation.

However, I was responding to a comment about Alice needing to get some new clothes because her jeans are looking pretty shabby. Another person had said that she could change clothes in a dresser for free.

Last time I looked, the only furniture pieces in the park were the two benches. So, the only way Alice could have access to a dresser without buying one would be to go into someone else’s house and getting into their dresser.

I don’t know about you, but the idea of someone rummaging through >my< dresser to get some clothes is not my idea of appropriate behavior.:P Just the thought of anyone going through my shirts and pants (let alone my underwear)…well, let's just say it would make me uneasy.

I don't really think Alice would do it though…however, Kev (king of inappropriate behavior) would probably not only do it, but he'd be the one to come out wearing panties and a bra. πŸ˜‰

Anyway, sorry if my earlier post wasn't clear.

Thanks for making a blog like this. I’ll be keeping my online mouth shut as I read along.. starting from this entry.. Creative and original expression is difficult in the internet and I am glad you’ve found a wonderful way of sharing a work that is truly inspired and inspiring. Many thanks and sincerely apologizing for my earlier lack of tact.

  83. 142 Mr.burk July 22, 2009 at 7:39 pm

that lady in the last pick has been in3 blog posts. she was the first person kev hit on. she helped alice with her hoemwork and no she lets alice sleep on her porch

  84. 143 Mariel October 1, 2009 at 3:27 am

Dropping that envelope into the nearest mailbox is her greatest source of comfort. It’s what makes it all worthwhile.

    AWWW :3
Alice is so nice, way better than her father D:<
Even if she's a video-game character, she still has the heart to to put others before herself.

  85. 144 Purple October 11, 2009 at 6:36 pm
