Alice is looking after her father, but that doesn’t mean she’s pleasant to him. He gets some distasteful looks as the food is served.
He seems grateful nevertheless.
They eat together at the table. They say little. When they’re done, however, Kev begins to open up to Alice. He repeatedly tells her about his worries, particularly about their lack of money.
I don’t know if he was expecting some kind of comforting or sympathetic response, but he doesn’t get one.
And with that, Alice walks out the door. With Kev there, she’s at risk of more verbal abuse, and she won’t live like that any more. Nor can she impose herself on Zedadias forever.

A good job makes sense, but to be frank I don’t think Zed’s a good choice. He’s nice but doesn’t seem like a good choice, she shouldn’t settle on the first nice guy she finds.

Frankly, if I were Alice, I’d have clubbed him to death a long time ago. Then again, I don’t have the “Good” trait.
Or the “Evil” trait either, but that’s another story.

Well, some of it is her fault. She’s a grown adult now and she needs to be more responsible. Yet she seems to give away all the money she makes instead of saving it for either herself (or if she didn’t hate him so much, getting him some help). It’s not like either of them are best served unshowered, hungry, being a burden to others.
I am the father of a homeless family. The things I do to make ends meet are verry unique and legal. I have actual events of my current lifestyle that would fit this storyline perfectly. Trying to sell storyline to feed my children. Please help.mehytche1997@yahoo.com

It’s a standard text symbol, it’s just not on a keyboard. You can find it by opening up the Start menu, Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Character Map, and then doing a search for “Heart”, then select it and copy it. Failing that, you can just copy-paste it from wherever you last saw it or use it. It’s the Playing Card suit, you see.

So why did he ever go on that long journey? I wish Alice would have been nicer to him. I know he doesn’t deserve it but maybe their relationship could get better and she wouldn’t have to put up with his abuse anymore.
Sims with the insane trait sometimes get the Wish to go somewhere, and will often just walk to the middle of nowhere before returning home. They are insane, after all.

I think it emulates the dementia of alzheimers or something. It’s not endearing at all, in the real world, when someone with dementia wanders off like that.

Awww, Alice! Don’t leave! I understand that she doesn’t want to be near her father, after all he’s done to her, but I think that he may have changed after walking around for such a long time. She should have given him at least one more chance. Now she left the only home she had. I’m sure Zedadias would have let her stay for a while longer. I can’t believe video game characters are making me so concerned…but I can’t wait to see what happens next!

If someone’s enough of a bastard, it negates the Good trait enough that you can hate and be mean to someone horrible to you. She does always have the opportunity to try and fix things herself, though, due to it.
I’m enraptured, but I seriously don’t understand why Alice didn’t shower before she left. Like she needs to feel grubby on top of everything else!
BTW: I think it would be awesome if Alice and Zed got something romantic on, but I think she’s going to need to do it on her own terms. Marrying her way into dependence on a different guy isn’t the way to make her life better.

Alice is a young adult now, not a teenager.
ahhh ! control those hormones, alice ! lol. i really hope she doesnt grow up and lose it like kev.. mental illness does run in families.. (wonder if the developers took that into account ?)
When you create a family, like say two parents and a child, you pick each of their traits, but let’s say you make a young adult sim, go ou to town and develop a relationship with another sim, get married with children, the children to get some of each parents traits, so yes, the developers did take that into account 😀 lol
actually, if the child does well in school, or if the toddler learned how to walk and talk and grew up happy, you get to choose the trait eitherway.
How do you get your sims to walk places? When I make them go somewhere they always just take s taxi.
Sims3, if you want to make your sim walk someplace, just click on the area in front of the place where you want your sim to go and choose “Go Here.” I’m pretty sure that’s what it will say. If you click on the place, it will just automatically take your sim in a taxi.
So what’s Alice’s lifetime wish, or hasn’t she been gotten one yet?
I’m surprised with her “good” trait she didn’t take that chance to bond with Kev yet.. =/ it would’ve been the perfect chance to for her and him to be on better terms…

Annd…did ANYONE notice that in the LAST one, where she’s lying in bed on TOP of the covers, that she’s wearing shoes? Her whole life she’s run around barefoot. To work in a place where they sell food (the market where she works) Don’t you have to have at least BASIC hygiene? Everyone seems to be thinking that she blew a once in a lifetime chance to bond with her father. If she DID show compassion to him, he might take it as weakness and slap her. He’s a maniac and a terrible person. Alice listening to, and hugging him once isn’t going to change that. Kev will treat Alice like garbage til the day he dies…which will hopefully be soon. Then it will be the Alice and Zed blog!!
She did show compassion to him. She fed the guy, but I like the fact that she didn’t fall for his attempt to gain sympathy from her. He’s only used that in the past to hurt her.
I think she showed a great deal of maturity and humanity in this episode.

Woot! Yeah! You go Alice! Show your father that you can do things for yourself and walk away from his verbal abuse and the likes. I think she is finally on her way to making her own life now and after this, it’s just awesome.

ARE YOU FREAKING MAD? Clearly you people have never had abusive, selfish parents. Kevin’s personality, in the real world, makes it virtually impossible for him to do a 180 and become introspective, caring or even polite. Hoping for Alice to smile sweetly and try to bond with him at every opportunity is wishing her to be spineless, self-loathing and unable to comprehend her own power. She is already unlucky and has low self esteem, you also want her to constantly strive for the affection of someone that truly loves to see her miserable? I hope she belts him one. 😉

I think the reason Kev is being slightly nicer than usual is because she’s a grown up now, and he has the dislikes children trait. So therefore he is not quite as opposed to her as he was before her birthday.

I see many post saying that Alice missed a chance to bond with Kev, but I say too little, too late.
Alice has shown strength by not being drawn into his attempt to gain sympathy when he’s been totally rotten to her. She’s shown a further strength of character and humanity by feeding the nutjob-jerky even though she’s got every right to put a bag over his head and smother him.
In my opinion, her actions this episode display a two-fold strength and display of real development into an adult.

As much as I dislike Kev, in todays blog I felt sorry for him. I also noticed that in the closeup pic of his face, he has kind eyes, so does Alice. I hope that his money worries go farther than himself and that he truly is worried for Alice too, at least that would be something to tell us he’s a little more than the angry creep we all know and perhaps he has a heart after all. There’s nothing that says there has to be a happy ending here. For many homeless people, there never is…
Did Alice give up on hygiene? She always seems to be dirty.
Kev in family therapy: he speaks desparagingly about Alice to the therapist, he manipulates the therapist into kissing him, then tells the receptionist on the way out that the therapist’s mother is a llama.
I’m thinking Kev isn’t really softening. He’s pulling the piteous act, hoping to mooch off Zedadias through Alice. He is desparate, but desparation doesn’t necessarily humble people. Sometimes it just brings out their manipulative nature.
I don’t think Alice is being mean to Kev. She’s an adult and she’s declaring her independence. She’s setting a healthy boundary between herself and Kev — one that demeans neither of them. She’s one class act. A stinky one.
Did Kev’s journey enlighten him? I think he took off for the freedom he thought he wanted when he was “shackled” with raising Alice. He found that freedom includes the freedom to starve to death as quickly as you like. I guess that’s a sort of enlightenment. He came back and found that since Alice is an adult she doesn’t annoy his “hate’s children” trait. But he’s not a loving Daddy. He never really was. He’s still inappropriate and mean-spirited and he’s still on Alice’s “Gets Coal for Christmas” list.
You know…I wonder if the social phenomenon of this blog is going to end up as materal for an academic paper somewhere. I sort of feel like an anonymous subject in a research project for a Masters dissertation.

I hope she doesn’t get married to Zed (at least not yet). I want to see her progress in her job, build/buy her own small place and then work on their relationship from there. Surely she’d be a much more proud person to get herself a life rather than just cling onto Zed and join his life.

well aaron, if they did get hitched she could use his shower, so she wouldn’t be all that smelly anymore. and zedadias understands her situation, so he apparently doean’t care too much that she smells. However, I do agree somewhat. I don’t know that I want them to start that kind of relationship. If I were in Alice’s place, I think I’d feel too awkward, because since I would have no money or possessions to share with him, I would feel like I’m taking charity from him for the rest of my life(as she was as a teenager, as was her father, and as she was as a young adult), until I started bringing in some serious simoleans to make up for it.

I have been keeping up with this blog for a while, but this is my first time posting. Your story is wonderful, and the in-game photography is quite impressive!
I might not be popular for saying this, but I hope Zed and Alice don’t get together, at least not for a long time. I think she needs to learn to be an independent adult and pull her life together before committing to something as big and time consuming as a relationship.
And Kev! One minute you pity him, the next you hate him. But because he hit Alice, I don’t think he can ever be redeemed. At least not in my mind.

Most of us want Alice to be happy. Most of us think that will happen if she and Zedadias have a romance. It’s so interesting to watch how we as people are brainwashed. Most people have decent families. Some have wonderful families. But many families do the kind of damage that has the most far-reaching effects of any damage done to people. Maybe I’m imagining this, but I’m seeing those of us here projecting onto Alice and Zedadias our own idea that love will make us happy and also our own desire to find that happiness.
But life is so much more interesting than that. So many healthy people find happiness in many, many other ways.
I also think Kev’s reaction to Alice after he struck her put him beyond the boundary of decency. He’s insane and that’s not his fault, but he’s also a nasty guy. Not evil, just nasty.
I LOVE the green stink clouds, they crack me up.

At the beginning, there is a list to the right that will show links to the different posts, the most recent is usually at the top of the list.
Or, you can right click the latest post somewhere on the page and “Create a Shortcut” – this will put an icon on your desktop that will take you to that same page you clicked from so you only have one page to go through instead of a lot.

You dont subscribe to the live feed? I have firefox and I bookmarked the site and just click on the newest post. Also there should be a column that says recent posts that will tell you the previous ones..
i do this also. I just have the site bookmarked and click on the most recent one, which is at the top of the page.

Also, while it would be great to have Alice and Zed match up i just don’t think they fit together that well. Alice is good and all, and Zed is really endearing, but thanks to her unlucky and clumsy traits, I would suppose she would need somebody more responsible???? (who can pay the repairman etc.)
or am i just being too serious? Hmmm.

I think that he’s being nice to Alice now because she’s older now. One of his traits is Hates Children, right? She’s no longer a child, so maybe he’s coming around
My only concern for Alice is that she has been bereft of any loving feelings for so long that she’ll fall for the first person that shows her any flirty attention. That could mean getting her heart broken by someone.
This serious is INCREDIBLE.

Heehee… this is getting good! Hmm… I want Alice and Zededias to get together now. xD Kev still bothers me, of course, but it’s just his personality lolz. I liked where the plot was going when he started leaving town… it’d be sort of cool and open-ended if he ran off with Yvette or something and left Alice to re-build her life. ^_^ Then he could mysteriously return later… DUN DUN DUNNNN! xD

I want Kev to die. I think Alice would be so much better without him and her life could progress. I want her to focus on having a relashionship with somebody other than her father.
I love this blog and finally put Alice and Kev into my own game…only to find out that yes, it can get worse for her. >_>
I was playing an evil sim who though Kev’s ranting at people was absolutely charming (or point-and-laugh-worthy), wanted to talk to him, and they hit it off so quickly that when he tried to hug her out of nowhere she liked it! Want to kiss, want to move in with him, etc…though getting two ‘dislikes children’ sims to ‘try for baby’ isn’t easy.
Then Alice’s half-sister Morganna was born evil and Kev electocuted himself to death in front of Alice by trying to repair a TV while it was on…leaving Alice orphaned in a house with two evil sims who hate her.
I guess at least she has a roof over her head, a shower, a comfy couch instead of a park bench, and an evil stepmother who’s a master chef…

I downloaded Alice and Kev to my game also. I never see Alice, but everytime I have a party, Kev shows up. He is always very cordial.
I love this story so much, I can’t wait to see what happens next xD I hope Alice finds a better life away from her father, he’s so horrible to her!
I’m still wondering how you have the time to make the story around the game. As soon as I get onto it i’m hooked for the next 3-4 hours! :L

Is there a limit to how many traits a Sim can have?

babies, toddlers = 2 traits
children = 3 traits
teens = 4 traits
young adults, adults, elders = 5 traits
Though actually, it IS possible to give them fewer than the maximum number of traits in-game, and the Awesomemod at More Awesome Than You can be used to bypass the maximum trait caps. 🙂

Robin you have made Alice go through so much! Make her do some romantic interactions and make her move in with Zedidas but I guess that would end the story wouldn’t it? Alright never the less just make alice happy for the 3rd or 4th time in her life.
