Woah! I can’t believe that Kev isn’t dead yet!

      • 3 Kameron July 6, 2009 at 12:19 pm

yea he’s not dead cuz theres z’s. but hes so close to dying…..

      • 4 -Grey Sky July 6, 2009 at 6:50 pm

        actually Kev is dying.

I don’t know if any of you remember correctly but when Sims die, they always hold themselves, and fall to the ground with their hands up in the air. Then curl into a ball….

Maybe it’s just me, but doesn’t Kev have his hand up in the air?

….I wonder if Alice will be struck with saddness or just go about her day with it unnoticed.

        Alice and Kev…….Alice and Zed

(still has that ring to it don’t you think? lol

–Grey Sky (I don’t know why but i feel the need to say again that my actual name is Grey Sky….oh well, I’m weird sometimes)

    • 5 kev4ever July 6, 2009 at 9:10 pm

Kev can’t die—he can only give himself up to the Force.

    • 8 Samantha July 6, 2009 at 9:28 pm

Kev was pointing at his mouth saying he was hungry and passed out due to exhaustion. In the sims3 when a sim dies they float in the air and get this sparkly dust around them. Kev may be starving and he may be tired, but at this point he is still alive.

heres a pic of my most recent occurance with death, she (the sim) just got off work right before it happened. The picture is before the Grim Reaper comes to take her away but I’m no longer able to control her at this point.

      this pic includes the GrimReaper.

      • 9 Vodhozk July 7, 2009 at 3:17 am

Unfortunately for Alice, Kev hasn’t spent enough time without food to die. It generally takes about two days for starvation to occur, but then again, we weren’t provided with the last time he ate either, so I could be dead wrong. I find it interesting that if Alice died of starvation–or tried to, anyway. Suicide is difficult, and I find that the best way is to lock them in a room and either just forget about them, or put them in the same room, and add a the metal fireplace and a bunch of wood crap–anyway, if Alice tried the Grim Reaper would just laugh and send her on her merry way, because she is unlucky. THIS is what they mean by “certain people may take pity on them”, not free food. There’s no limit, either. Unlucky sims just have to die of old age, so this story can go on a while longer.

      • 10 Pantalones July 7, 2009 at 6:27 am

Speaking of dying sims…I haven’t played mine much yet: I have an elderly sim whose life-bar’s been full for days now, but she won’t die! Does their life-span expand according to how many wishes you fulfill or something?

      • 11 Mendia July 7, 2009 at 2:14 pm

A Sim died at a birthday party I had for my Sim. The grim reaper ate cake with everyone and another Sim kept passing out at the sight of him. It was great.

    • 12 bindiboo57 July 6, 2009 at 10:50 pm

Maybe He’s not.. but who knows! either way the picks say it all, isn’t it GREAT! remember the old saying :”a Picture is worth a thousand words” I love that about this writer..it could mean many different things to many different peoople and the author knows that ..and he tries not to interfere any more than possible..I LOVE THIS don’t you? 🙂

      • 13 goingxcrazy July 7, 2009 at 6:55 am

“we weren’t provided with the last time he ate either”

Actually, we were in ‘His Journey Begins’ – “When he reaches the last house on the street, he goes inside and grabs himself a sandwich.”

      • 14 Esther July 9, 2009 at 7:37 pm

Mendia — your post was amazing.

  2. 15 Sims 3 Fan July 6, 2009 at 11:41 am

LOL! In the 7th picture Kev looks like he wants to eat the sun xD

  3. 17 Rachel July 6, 2009 at 11:43 am

I haven’t even read it yet but I just have to get this out of my system:

OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG!!! [G meaning GOSH. God is overrated plus I’m atheist]

    It’s a kev post!!!
    *Squeel!*

    • 18 Kate July 6, 2009 at 2:29 pm

I like when people need to announce their religious (lack of) beliefs.

    • 19 karen July 6, 2009 at 3:21 pm

“gosh” is just a deformation of “god”.
In other words, it’s the same thing, and no one cares if you’re an atheist.

      • 20 -Grey Sky July 6, 2009 at 6:54 pm

        i agree Karen!

plus all of us who are NOT an atheist (not to get all religious) its really uncalled for…VERY uncalled for!

this is an ALICE AND KEV post!

NO ONE CARES! ….cuz really we’re all focused on ALICE AND KEV!

        jeez….

        –Grey Sky

      • 21 Sarahwhohasnosims3boohoo July 10, 2009 at 1:11 am

why are we talking about religiosity on a sims 3 blog???? DROP IT PEOPLE

    • 22 pudderz July 6, 2009 at 6:10 pm

      i love this comment.

      • 23 Alex July 6, 2009 at 10:29 pm

Christians wouldn’t say ‘omg’ with the ‘g’ meaning God either, it’s disrespectful. Some don’t say ‘gosh’, for the reason pointed out by Karen. And, Grey Sky (i honestly love your name, btw), was the ‘jeez’ ironic? Or has no-one noticed that it’s short for ‘Jesus’, and therefore basically the same as saying ‘gosh’?

I like to stick to ‘wow’ for good things and ‘bother’ for bad things. If it’s good enough for Edward Bear…

    • 24 CHap July 6, 2009 at 6:22 pm

I don’t think anywhere here cares if you’re atheist or that you meant gosh by OMG.

I know plenty of atheist who still say “Oh my god” when the time calls for it, so get the stick out of your ass C:

    • 25 Aunt K July 6, 2009 at 6:28 pm

How can you think God is overated and be an athiest to think He’s overated you’d have to believe that He exists.

      • 26 Erika July 6, 2009 at 7:42 pm

Haha I love this. That was a total contradiction. You guys said it all. She needs to learn that its better to keep your mouth closed and let people think you’re a fool than to open it and prove to them that you are. As described in Proverbs 17:28.

      • 27 Orpheline July 7, 2009 at 2:44 am

Rachel, did you mean ‘God’ [the word as an emphatic] is overused? I could agree – it’s the same way everything is now ‘awesome’ yet instills very little awe.

On the other hand, has anyone else noticed how atheists tend to ‘witness’ and behave like missionaries? Some are very religious about it… 😉

      • 28 OneHappyAtheist July 7, 2009 at 5:19 am

Well, I certainly think the idea of a deity is over-rated. *shrug* It’s not really a contradiction.

To the first poster, this is why I use “OMW” (“Oh My Word”). Then I don’t have to listen to those who have some issue with “(G)od” being used. (Also Rachel, you’ll perhaps notice my nick? I’ve used this one so often in other threads that it’s stuck and now is a habit to use. Then I also don’t have to listen to people get uptight when I say that I’m an atheist. It’s right there anyway. And that’s really no different than anyone using a nickname with any like/dislike or cultural or religious reference.)

And to those who’re bashing the first poster, yes, most people may not care (hah–especially those who’re religious; they have such a difficult time with those who aren’t religious for some reason…), but it’s not really different than Grey Sky pointing out that her (?) name is really “Grey Sky”. “Uncalled for”? Puh-lease. Don’t get your panties in a bunch because someone mentioned s/he is an atheist. Did anyone get theirs in a bunch because you had to tell us (apparently -again-) that your name is what it is? *eyeroll*

How about… if you don’t like what someone writes, you just -ignore it-. I think that’s a terrific idea. Unfortunately it seems that people just can’t do that.

On a completely unrelated note: I still love this blog. 🙂

      • 29 Heroface July 7, 2009 at 10:38 am

This is why I usually just use the phrase “I’m not really religious at all” (if it even comes up in conversation)

The reaction is identical to ones you would get if you posted a favourable comment about an xbox 360 on a ps3 forum or vice versa. On the internet theres fanboys for everything… even religions… which is why I stay well away (except in this case cos alice and kev got tarnished with all this intensity)

I really don’t WANT kev to die… but a part of me kind of hopes he does… just for a bit of story progression, I love him and he loves us and you just KNOW he’ll be back as a ghost to tease alice everywhere she goes

      • 30 Maddox July 8, 2009 at 11:58 pm

Ironically, the “Word” in “Oh My Word” is actually in reference to “The Word of God” which is considered one-and-the-same as God.

I’m not religious, but growing up in a religious school, I remember the opening passage to one of the books of the Bible: “In the beginning there was the Word. The Word was with God. And the Word was God.”

So essentially, “Oh My Word” is actually the same thing as “Oh My God.”

    • 31 kev4ever July 6, 2009 at 9:13 pm

Oh my Dark Lord Satan, you’re right!

    • 35 ND July 7, 2009 at 2:13 pm

Don’t listen to them, I care that you are an Atheist. I care deeply.

For those saying this is an Alice and Kev place and that religious conversation is inappropriate; consider what playing The Sims is.

      • 36 Aunt K July 8, 2009 at 12:48 am

This goes to OneHappyAthiest, why didn’t you take your own advice, in the last paragraph you said that if you don’t like what someone posted to ignore it. Guess it’s a bit of the pot calling the kettle black.

    • 37 EmLi44 August 19, 2009 at 12:56 am

I just say Oh my gah. =/
      Gosh sounds so girly.

  4. 38 Rachel July 6, 2009 at 11:44 am

Okay, NOW I have read it and..:

YOU KILLED HIM! YOU KILLED KEV! NO! BAD WRITER! *sprays with squirt bottle like a bad cat*
    This is Alice AND Kev!

  5. 52 Rachel July 6, 2009 at 11:45 am

Well I mean your not there yet… he’s not quite dead but STILL!

    • 53 B July 6, 2009 at 4:58 pm

You do realise that Robin has no control over whether or not Kev dies, right? Considering how crappy of a life Kev’s led, and the fact that he’s recently aged into an elder, he really is due to die anytime now.

  6. 54 Danielle Gohin July 6, 2009 at 11:47 am

wow! those are some amazing pictures. The pink sky is georgus. I really wish I had the computer power to play this game myself, instead of watching other people play it. *sigh*

This story is so short! we need more!

  7. 55 Gord July 6, 2009 at 11:53 am

The giant Z’s sort of give away that he’s not dead 😉

  8. 56 Esther July 6, 2009 at 11:56 am

Kev is Caine from Kung Fu! Walking the earth going from place to place to shout at people/buildings in his pants…..

  9. 57 itsallcrap July 6, 2009 at 11:57 am

I don’t think Robin killed him.

I think Kev just started wandering across the wilderness of his own accord.

    Because he’s mental.

  10. 59 kts2k July 6, 2009 at 12:09 pm

I miss reading a proper story.

  11. 60 Dude July 6, 2009 at 12:13 pm

The story has been drawn out far too long now i believe. It is truly falling apart…

Best to know when to stop i think, it doesn’t have that feel that the author even cares about it anymore.

    • 61 asdfghjkl July 6, 2009 at 12:26 pm

i agree the start of this story was great but now…
there’s not even any writing or real story line
      pretty disappointing i must say

      • 62 Erika July 6, 2009 at 1:41 pm

I tend to agree. At first it was interesting to be held in suspense about what Kev was doing but now I just want some explanation.

      • 63 T0mD July 6, 2009 at 4:34 pm

seriously, what could he write about this? “kev walks across a field?” hmm…. better to let the pictures speak for themselves.

      • 64 KH July 6, 2009 at 4:59 pm

its a good story- it was better- but can still be saved. We need something to HAPPEN, not just Alice burning the macaroni and cheese and then passing out from exhaustion or kev walking around like some kind of insane nomad. She either needs to give some sort of explaination of what’s happening because the pictures are really causing loss of interest, or something really big needs to happen with Alice because she’s the only one in the actual neighborhood. Just my thoughts on the topic.

      • 65 Sarahwhohasnosims3boohoo July 10, 2009 at 1:18 am

yes. and she’s happy!!! what sort of sims player are you, robin???!!?!?! law No. 145,000 of sims playing says that your sims should be tormented to no end! (evil laugh on the rule book’s part)

    • 66 KT July 6, 2009 at 4:40 pm

If you’re bored, don’t bother checking the story. but please don’t ask the guy to stop writing it because you, yourself, don’t want to read it. i am still more than happy to check in each day to see what is new. so maybe today robin was too busy to write something but yes, the pictures explain it all, and i still enjoy the story.

      • 67 katiegirl1996 July 6, 2009 at 4:52 pm

i agree ,,i still look forward to reading this…so speak for yourself 😛

      • 68 Kat July 6, 2009 at 6:13 pm

It isn’t that we don’t want to read it it’s that it is getting boring…we want him to show what a great writer he is not
Just that he can take a nice screen-shot (which he can!) Its just not what Alice and Kev used to be…

      • 69 OneHappyAtheist July 7, 2009 at 5:22 am

As do I! I’m enjoying every post, whether this author writes or not. I like the photos. (Plus, I’m still unable to play my copy of The Sims 3, so I like seeing other people’s Sim adventures!)

    • 70 neewom July 6, 2009 at 8:16 pm

This is roburky’s blog, though. The only person that can choose the format is the owner.

“Those that can write, do. Those that cannot write critique.”

Personally, I feel the images are better served with no accompanying text; after all, what could possibly be said?
“Kev is still wandering [image] Ranting to himself all the way.” We can see that.

      • 72 Erin July 6, 2009 at 9:03 pm

I think roburky is choosing not to include accompanying texts with Kev’s posts for a reason. It definitely adds to the suspense of the whole thing. I doubt it’s due to laziness. Why bother with something for so long only to let it die out?

      • 73 asdfghjkl July 7, 2009 at 7:27 am

i’m not saying that this particular chapter is terrible, or that it needs text. I agree that the screen shots speak for themselves. It just the general story is lacking in something. It is not how the story was at the beginning. I will keep checking the blog everyday, but i am just voicing my opinion, i am not telling the writer to change the story.

  12. 74 anan July 6, 2009 at 12:19 pm

poor Kev. He really needs help.

  13. 75 Gawain July 6, 2009 at 12:20 pm

Haha, Kev is going to the farm. How PC ^^

  14. 78 GerandLer July 6, 2009 at 12:24 pm

how come there werent any written posts?

    • 79 Sims 3 Fan July 6, 2009 at 12:34 pm

Idk…..I used to like this story but now theres no words so how do we know if Kev is dying or not??!!!!

      • 80 Mosim July 7, 2009 at 4:12 pm

It’s called IMAGINATION people. Use it. It’s like a choose your own adventure story. I think it was a great idea for Robin to choose to let us think what we wanted about Kev’s journey.
btw, as soon as I saw that farm, I thought “ah, he’s found the Funny Farm!”
Keep up the good work Robin!

    • 81 Mark July 6, 2009 at 12:50 pm

I think the posts are rather poetic when there are no words; look at how much people are reacting to them, and putting together their own meanings 🙂

      • 82 Rubens July 6, 2009 at 2:50 pm

Maybe that’s exactly what Rob wants – to start a hype. I don’t think he’d thought about what came after Alice grew up, and now he’s just trying different stuff out to find out where the story can go…
Though, I have to agree, Kev is far more fun when it’s Kev AND someone, not just by himself.

      • 83 KH July 6, 2009 at 5:03 pm

but the trouble is, if we all put together our own meanings we’re gonna be totally lost when she finally starts writing words with the pictures. We’ve all got our own story in our heads and it’ll be difficult to transition to her story when she (hopefully) gives an explaination- this has gone on too long to be herded back to one general idea…

      • 84 Shelly July 6, 2009 at 7:02 pm

thank you! these people complain and seem so pissy, but in reality what Robin is doing is working by keeping us in suspense.

      • 85 Cobes July 6, 2009 at 10:00 pm

KH, you ought to be able to look at these images and speculate on what might be happening. It’s called prediction and we all do it all the time. The fact that you cannot seem to predict what might be happening to Kev, then later find out and go “Oh man, I was way off!!” is not the authors fault. The fact that you need your hand held through the entire story is not the authors fault. Those of us that can predict and still enjoy finding out what’s REALLY happening are enjoying this.

It’s also called story-telling. Any good writer can tell you that sometimes stories (like TV shows or series of books) sometimes deviate from the general storyline for a while. Day time Soaps (as this has been compared to for a while now) all deviate from a “general idea” and no one gives them flak for it. So just enjoy the now evolving story of Alice and Kev. They are two seperate entities and do not NEED each other to exist.

      • 86 KH July 6, 2009 at 11:12 pm

Cobes, I am not the type to ever say anything that has any possibility of negativity, but you just basically gave an examlple of what my entire post was about- people are people and they’re going to fight about stupid things-which may include the going-ons in the life of a pile of pixels when we are not told exactly what’s going on.
I understand what you mean when we get the suprise of being completely off. I enjoy things like that. But this is the Internet, and not everybody is going to be like me or you or anybody else who feels this way about whats going to happen and how we’re going to feel about it.

    • 87 Samantha July 6, 2009 at 2:59 pm

Even if there were words you wouldn’t be told Kev if dying, that would spoil the ending. That might be one reason why words were chose to be left out of these few posts, that and all kev is doing is traveling, not more can be written to that. Kev woke up and continued his journey walking towards the farm up ahead in hopes to find food as he was really hungry. Unfortunately his nap in the field didn’t really help his energy any and he passed out before he made it to his destination. For Kev’s sake I hope that farm has food (but if I’m right in thinking this is a farm I’ve seen before I don’t believe it does).

  15. 91 Kansine July 6, 2009 at 12:32 pm

The dawn is so beautiful in sims 3! But is Kev going to die now? Did you let him die on purpose? O_o

  16. 93 ~Sam's A Ninja~ July 6, 2009 at 12:50 pm

    Purple dog…. on a Sunday afternoon… [& etc]

People who get the reference deserve a cookie.

  17. 95 Amalia July 6, 2009 at 12:53 pm

I look forward to Alice and Kev every morning. Adds a little bit of interesting to my workday.

But where are the witty comments? They are the best part!

PS. Alice and Kev have been in my town for a couple generations now, and Alice moved in with another sim — last time I checked Kev was living alone on the lot as an elder. A happy ending with them as NPCs.

I guess she just had to get away from him.

  18. 96 Nonsense July 6, 2009 at 12:54 pm

Why!!!? Why does he walk for days Rob? Are you going to tell us or not? Do you enjoy watching us go crazy thinking what will happen next. Lol

  19. 98 Peter July 6, 2009 at 12:59 pm

If you look at the pictures with the sun, you can see that Robin has craftily hidden Kev’s thought bubbles inside.

  20. 101 rogerdodger777 July 6, 2009 at 1:00 pm

I just wanted to say that this blog is just so amazing it has inspired me to make a blog about the Sims 3 myself.
This one deals with a teenager who suffers from a mental disorder called Down Simdrome. The website is inhisownworld.wordpress.com
I’m not sure if I’m allowed to shamelessly advertise my site like this so feel free to delete this post if you want… I just want some people to have a look.
Thankyou so much for this blog, I look forward to it every day…

    • 102 sixsevenTrOoPeR July 7, 2009 at 1:15 am

      😮 clever!!! down “sim”drome hahahaha.. ahhh 😛
I will go chek it out now 🙂
oh and btw i have 1 2 except i haven’t posted anything yet because the computer that has my sims on it isn’t here right now… 😦

  21. 103 taylor July 6, 2009 at 1:15 pm

Finally hes probably gunna die cuz he hasnt gotten any foood in how long ? So yeah . I predict hes gunna die(: You shouuld write stuff roburky !! People think you dont care about this if u dont wrote stuff !! Just sayin(:

  22. 104 taylor July 6, 2009 at 1:16 pm

    I meant write stuff* xD

  23. 105 Tom Haczewski July 6, 2009 at 1:26 pm

I think the lack of writing is actually for dramatic effect guys. It’s working on me… it’s quite emotional.

Can’t wait for the next post…

  24. 107 Samantha July 6, 2009 at 1:30 pm

I’ve never had a sim just wander off from their lot, I suppose it might be possible but I just haven’t seen it and I know roBurky has mentioned needing to send them places. This is looking to be like a way to get rid of Kev. I still enjoy the story, and these posts with Kev just being pictures are absolutely gorgeous and force us to interpret them ourselves. I don’t think these in particular are what makes it look like the authur no longer cares. The posts seem shorter…if not shorter they seem to have less substance and here lately everything seems to be trying to find a means to an end (Alice getting more friendly with Z, this attempt to remove Kev). Though I still enjoy the story it does leave the feeling of the end is near every time I read it, like maybe the authur is now bored with the experiment and wants to just give us closure.

Kev here is obviously hungry and tired, if someone doesn’t step in to send him to a lot with food on it (even if he must find the food on his own) he’ll die of starvation. I don’t like how Kev has treated Alive, but I don’t want to see that happen. And as for Alice getting with Z, that would be ok, but like so many others I would much rather see her working her way up first.

AND WHAT IS ALICE’S NEW TRAIT??? I’m dying to know.

    • 108 playerchad757 July 6, 2009 at 2:09 pm

its possible that she didnt give her a trait. it happened to me twice where i clicked X instead of the check mark.

    • 111 Dancergirl July 6, 2009 at 6:25 pm

If you look closely, he also has bad hygiene. That’s at least three bars down right there.

    • 112 KH July 6, 2009 at 11:18 pm

Maybe he got Stir Crazy and wandered off?
I know, I’m dying to know her new trait too! When my Alice grew up, she got Unflirty as her new trait. I would think this may be correct, as our new traits were the same when she grew up from child to teen. But who knows, our Alices may be more different than one would think, considering their day-to-day events are pretty similar. or playerchad757 is right and she just forgot to add a trait and clicked the x instead of the checkmark. Although they do remind you that you still have more traits to pick, but then again i do catch myself ignoring important things because im so sick of the little boxes popping me up and asking me unimportant questions.
Oh, listen to me ramble. Anyways, just my thoughts.

  25. 113 Tre July 6, 2009 at 1:39 pm

So just because there is one post without words and its only pictures, it means the writer doesn’t care about the story? Maybe they were trying to convey a deeper sense of emotion and connect with the readers on a much more emotional level by using pictures only. As they say, A picture is worth a thousand words.

    OR

The writer just didn’t feel like putting any words in because it was very self explanatory.

    • 114 Erika July 6, 2009 at 7:53 pm

It isn’t self explanatory. And its not one post its two. I don’t think he doesn’t care anymore, I think people are over-reacting about that. However, I’m kind of in the middle. I don’t neccessarily enjoy looking at pictures without explanations but I do understand what Robin is trying to do.

      • 115 sixsevenTrOoPeR July 7, 2009 at 1:48 am

But, you should think about how to say what is happening in the picture. “Still hungry and tired, Kev is still out wandering.” Yeah, we see. “Too tired to go on, Kev passes out on the hard ground, hand in the air.” Yeah, we know that, that’s what’s in the picture..
You see what I mean? If he had written, it would have started a whole new argument on its own.

  26. 116 cam July 6, 2009 at 1:39 pm

If you read the comments you know exactly why there is no commentary. Listen to you all freaking out! The audiences experience/mood/reactions are just as important as the text itself. Looking forwards to seeing where this goes- I think Kev has a saviour and soulmate waiting for him in that farmhouse.

  27. 117 calla flower July 6, 2009 at 1:46 pm

can your Sim get a sunburn from falling asleep outside without sunscreen?
    stay tuned…

  28. 118 Will July 6, 2009 at 2:04 pm

. . . . Annnnd Kev fall down go boom. If Kev don’t die from his magical mystery tour, I’ll be shocked. Either way, his posts have turned into one long silent film. (needs some wacky travlin’ tunes to go with it lol)

  29. 119 Chris July 6, 2009 at 2:39 pm

It looks like Kev is *laughing* at the farm, to me. (For some reason, this and all the ‘Kev needs food, badly! Kev is going to die!’ comments keep making my mind want to riff on ‘buying the farm’, but Kev doesn’t have the money for that…)

  30. 121 Yan July 6, 2009 at 2:47 pm

Kev is a tough man. I can’t imagine how he’d die… He seems like he’ll keep on living forever to me :p

  31. 123 westyfield July 6, 2009 at 2:58 pm

Wow… that sky is gorgeous. Love the way it changes through the sequence of pictures.

  32. 124 Noel July 6, 2009 at 3:02 pm

I think that just letting the photos speak for themselves says more than the text could. Maybe Kev has just decided to wander off on his own, maybe to his death. It would be cheap if the storyteller just hands him food to save him. Part of this story is letting the characters do what they want not what the author or the readers want. We’re all just along for the ride and it has been an interesting one so far.

  33. 125 Brittney July 6, 2009 at 3:04 pm

If you look at the first frame, Kev has a big ol’ smile on his face…interesting…

  34. 126 Georgette July 6, 2009 at 3:28 pm

If there’s a farm there may be plants ripe for harvest. He could eat those. I doubt he’ll die.

  35. 127 Christin July 6, 2009 at 3:33 pm

Oh Kev. You can’t die–you don’t have the money to buy that farm you’re gazing at.

  36. 128 derp July 6, 2009 at 3:38 pm

The hell are people asking for “witty comments” for? Kev is on some insane, end life journey to who-knows-where and you need captions? Just WHAT is there to say about it? Just watch.

Also, I really thought Kev was about ready to croak before I saw the Z’s. But he’s close, isn’t he?

  37. 129 Mythos July 6, 2009 at 3:41 pm

Like I said, he’s going to starve.

  38. 130 Kat July 6, 2009 at 3:42 pm

Well, I just stumbled upon the whole story yesterday, but when I came to the last story, I was left wanting more.. Please keep the story going!! But, out of curiosity, did you send Kev out, or did he go on his own?

  39. 131 Kimmeh July 6, 2009 at 4:03 pm

    wahh xD
One the one side, I hope he dies and burns in hell for everything that he’s done to poor Alice,
but on the other side, well, he can’t help his personality! — after all RoBurtky chose this xD

But I hope the next post will be about Alice & Zedadias again :3

  40. 132 Ryann Woods July 6, 2009 at 4:17 pm

    DONT KILL KEV!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  41. 133 Jackie July 6, 2009 at 4:23 pm

If Sims has thought processes, I would love to know what Kev was thinking when he started this journey.

  42. 136 Vince July 6, 2009 at 4:28 pm

It’s a journey of introspection/self-discovery. It’s made more poignant by the fact that there are no external words (ie, the narrator.)

  43. 137 Celara July 6, 2009 at 4:37 pm

I really like the fact that with Kev’s journey, you’ve chosen to tell it without words. With Kev being insane, I don’t think anyone can really interpret why he’s doing what he’s doing. Do these places have any significance to Kev? Will he continue on despite the fact that he’s struggling? What is his final destination, and will he ever return?

I also loved the two backlit pictures. They made me wonder if Kev’s number was up this time, and that he was going to die. We’ll just have to wait and see what happens.

  44. 138 Katie July 6, 2009 at 4:49 pm

A farm? He hasn’t discovered River View, has he? 😉

  45. 142 Tiedyemike July 6, 2009 at 4:56 pm

Frame 7: “Curse you, Day Star!”

  46. 144 Nicole July 6, 2009 at 5:02 pm

Maybe Kev is doing some soul searching here with all that walking around. I hope he’ll have a life changing moment or something… for the better. 😛

  47. 145 thaaeroprincess July 6, 2009 at 5:06 pm

Is he on the edge of town near Riverview? Because that barn looks like something out of Riverview to me.

  48. 147 Kelsey July 6, 2009 at 5:10 pm

Wow, for a minute there I thought Kev had a heart attack. Just wishful thinking I guess.

  49. 148 Cheal July 6, 2009 at 5:29 pm

I can’t believe people are complaining. Pay them no mind. These wordless Kev posts are perfect. Keep up the wonderful work. Don’t second guess your narration style for a Second.

  50. 149 angela July 6, 2009 at 5:32 pm

Wow, #1 I just found a link to this blog and I went back and caught up from the begining. #2, It’s hilarious. #3 great screen captures #4 What is going on with KEV – is Robin telling him to wonder?

I have not played Sims 3, I think the last Sims I played was the first one – the deluxe with add ons of the Pets and some others. I’m not used to the up close faces and the character complexity.

My interest is very piqued for Sims 3, not sure if I want to buy it though since I really don’t have the time to play.

  51. 150 Emore July 6, 2009 at 5:46 pm

I kind of hope Kev dies, not to sound like a bitch. xD But he’s just not very interesting. I think you should have more “episodes” about Alice. 🙂

  52. 151 Heather & Lindz July 6, 2009 at 5:55 pm

I just wanted to say, even though this is like my first comment, I ♥♥♥ this story! =D You are an amazing writer and the pictures are wonderful, too! Keep it up!

    P.S.;
Though Kev is a real jerk to Alice, I really hope he doesn’t die. He’s one of the funniest and strangest characters I’ve ever had the time to read about!
And, also–I do think Alice should end up with “Z” (can I spell his full name? Nope.), it’d be a sweet ending, but I also think–to make things more…interesting…–that something should go wrong….>:D

  53. 152 Jenn B. July 6, 2009 at 5:59 pm

I adore this. It makes me wonder, is he still insane?

  54. 153 Mone July 6, 2009 at 6:05 pm

He looks like he’s found God

  55. 154 Kadayi July 6, 2009 at 6:09 pm

I’m liking the present direction. The lack of commentary makes it that much clearer that this is a case of Kev wandering into the wilderness to battle his inner demons or succumb to them. Meanwhile with Alice, there exists the glimmer of a better future.

    There is poetry in this.

  56. 155 Sky July 6, 2009 at 6:18 pm

    What is Kev doing???

  57. 156 Erika July 6, 2009 at 6:36 pm

I don’t know where you got your ideas from KT but nobody said we wanted him to stop writing. Quite the contrary. We want him to write more. We could gain much more interest and enthusiasm if he narrated. Not by saying “Kev walks across a field”, as someone suggested, but by expressing his own confusion at what Kev is doing. I think this wordless turn of events has caused some people to feel lost. Throughout this blog we have looked to Robin to find meaning and explanation as to what is happening in the story. He is the god of Alice and Kev and it is like the “god” has abandoned them, and in a way, us, as we look to him for guidance and explanation. This is why so many people are becoming upset and disoriented.

  58. 157 Meredith July 6, 2009 at 6:51 pm

I cant wait to see what his destination is! A place? An object? Death?

Btw it takes a long time to die from hunger after the 24 hours of hungery then theres 24 hours of starving

  59. 160 Manda July 6, 2009 at 6:58 pm

I find it interesting that people were wishing death for Kev in previous posts (especially posts where he was cruel to Alice) and now they’re all about keeping him alive. I don’t think words have been necessary in the last 3-4 Kev posts; he’s just going on a long walk, what can be said about it? I think the lack of accompanying words adds an element of mystery to his journey.
Do you people really think that Robin will never explain what’s going on with Kev? Just be patient and go with the flow.

    • 161 Alyssa July 6, 2009 at 8:32 pm

      flow with the go.
      leggo my eggo.
      your preggo is eggo,
i am the walrus, you are the eggman, coo coo ca choo

      C-C-C-COMBO BREAKERRR!

  60. 162 ChaosMageX July 6, 2009 at 6:59 pm

Okay, I recently saw an episode of King of the Hill on AdultSwim.com/Video, and I just have to ask:

Did Ronald Reagan also kick Kev out of his mental hospital? ROTFLMAO

  61. 164 Kalika July 6, 2009 at 7:03 pm

Wait, did Kev decide on his own that he suddenly wanted to explore the world even though he’s clearly tired and can barely stand..?!!?

  62. 165 NALOPKT... click click July 6, 2009 at 7:09 pm

I’m sick of your lazyness roBurky. Write some goddamn text next time. This is a story, not a picture book.

    • 166 Samantha July 6, 2009 at 9:45 pm

I think that it isn’t laziness. The pictures take a bit of time to do (getting the right shot and cropping it so it looks perfect) and these wordless posts have had twice the usual amout of pictures.

    • 167 Coop July 7, 2009 at 1:33 am

hey hey, lets not get hasty here. so far, roBurky’s posts have been great. maybe she wants us to try to comprehend or guess whats going on with Kev. I think it’s clever, and definently fun to think of the “whats next?” possibilities.

If you don’t like the way she tells her story. stop reading. stop raining on this parade.

    • 168 sixsevenTrOoPeR July 7, 2009 at 2:09 am

tisk, tisk. You should really read some other comments before you start dissing Rob. HE PROBABLY WAS GOING TO STOP BEFORE HE SAW ALL THESE CrApPy COMMENTS SAYING HES AN IDIOT WHEN THEY’RE REALLY THE IDIOTS.. you rock robin i ❤ your work 😀

    • 169 Kalheka July 7, 2009 at 4:40 am

Out of line, and uncalled for.

  63. 170 Kyriene July 6, 2009 at 7:09 pm

This isn’t a story, Robin is letting the Sims do what they would do, this is about 2 homeless people and what happens in their day to day lives, if it doesn’t fit into what you think should happen, well that’s because you aren’t homeless and haven’t had to find a place to sleep or food when you’re starving. I find the entire thing to be very interesting. Keep them coming.

  64. 171 Chris in NM July 6, 2009 at 7:33 pm

Don’t know why all the complaints about no text. I am blind and reading this blog and if I can get the reason for no text everyone else should be able to. The only real bummer for me is not really knowing what Alice and Kev look like, well that and not being able to play around with this game myself. Anyway, nobbody seems to have made the connection between Kev’s journey and Alice’s birthday. Think it is a coincidence that Kev seems to have become completely bereft after he lost his core reason for being, that is despising and berating his child? She is now a young adult, not a hated child and I don’t think Kev knows what to do. Just a theory. Of course Kev is insane, so he really does not need a reason, but I don’t think the timing is a coincidence.

    • 172 Mark Harris July 6, 2009 at 9:30 pm

Chris, I have a question for you. Given there is no text (and no descriptive alt text on the images – for shame, roburky!), what do you get from a post like this? Do you get someone to describe it for you, or are you getting the context from the comments? (Genuinely interested)

  65. 173 Des July 6, 2009 at 7:36 pm

I love this comic, and I wonder what Kev is up to.

  66. 174 Jenna July 6, 2009 at 7:45 pm

Words or no words, I think this is captivating. It goes to show how attached people are to this character if they’re getting so worked up about needing an explanation. Personally, I doubt this is the end.

  67. 175 Kathersha July 6, 2009 at 7:52 pm

I only scanned through the first 20 or so comments, so I apologise if this has already been said, but PLEASE do not end the story! I wouldn’t mind a little more per episode, like maybe the first half about Alice and the second half about Kev, or vice-versa, but don’t quit just because people are complaining! I think this is my first post here, I’m not completely sure, but I’ve been reading this story almost every day for the past 3 weeks, maybe longer! Please don’t let it end unless you have to! I will continue to check in on it until the end.

  68. 176 Cookie July 6, 2009 at 7:59 pm

Last picture’s really cool cause he hasn’t hit the ground yet.

Ahh! I wish there was more than one post a day. xD

  69. 177 Jeniveve July 6, 2009 at 8:13 pm

    Lmao
    That’ll teach you >_>
maybe he’ll dig for roots – and find a truffle or something else?
    haha

  70. 178 Cheyenne July 6, 2009 at 8:14 pm

I love stories that are just made out of pictures sometimes….you don’t need words to tell you whats going on…you get to think up a story of your own or something like that. 🙂 I passionate reader understands the author’s way of doing things.

  71. 179 Alyssa July 6, 2009 at 8:29 pm

He’s not dead yet.. he was walking towards that barn I’m guessing.. good thing he doesn’t have the vegetarian trait, cows… OOH WAIT. DOES HE?

na na na, HEY HEY HEY, GOOOOD-BYE

  72. 180 Alyssa July 6, 2009 at 8:30 pm

yeah so i really hate these posts with no words.

    sorry. but. yeah.

    alice is awesome btw.

  73. 181 Stephane p July 6, 2009 at 8:48 pm

I think Robyn does these picture posts to see what will we think the next chapter will be about or why the rest of the Story should be about because if youve noticed, the author has sneakily included everything we have asked for like to see zeds face for example the author didn’t make zed take his glasses off until we kept requesting it right? So just cool it I’m sure things will get to be really exciting soon!

    Great blog by the way!

  74. 183 Someone July 6, 2009 at 8:51 pm

The first picture makes Kev kind of look like Santa Claus. x3

  75. 184 Cheyenne July 6, 2009 at 8:53 pm

I know this may seem like a weird idea, but when dogs are about to die…they go off on their own to die, my last dog did that. Seems that Kev is getting very old and maybe it’s his time. Also the sun did block out a very important complaint from the sim Kev…maybe its a very important one…like hunger. 😀 maybe kev will get to die in his sleep.

    • 185 sixsevenTrOoPeR July 7, 2009 at 2:26 am

my last elder sim died of old age in the hot tub… and her husband was making hot dogs in the kitchen. So her grave was near the hot tub, he ran over and so did everyone else, (did i mention it was their adopted son’s birthday party??) and the hot dogs burned, killing who was left. Poor guys.. :((

      • 186 Samantha July 7, 2009 at 3:39 am

That sounds horrible! were there many guests over? Wow to think having a birthday party with half the neighborhood over and then someone dying due to old age (what a party killer for one) and then everyone is sad and next thing they know they’re all trapped in flames. Well there goes the neighborhood.

  76. 187 Jess July 6, 2009 at 9:04 pm

No offense but this story is just getting annoying with just pictures.

  77. 188 James July 6, 2009 at 9:08 pm

Woah this blog gets so many comments in comparison to when I first started reading

  78. 189 Roberta K July 6, 2009 at 9:11 pm

Remember, folks, Kev has the Insane trait, so he’s going to do a lot of stuff that “normal” Sims won’t do. (I had one Neurotic Sim who wouldn’t feel at ease unless he checked the sink to make sure the faucet wasn’t leaking.) He’s probably walking towards the farm because he thinks he can find some food there (maybe raid the fields/garden), but because he’s an Elder now, he doesn’t have as much energy, and he probably never got a Lifetime Wish fulfilled so that’s going to affect his lifespan too.

And just because he dies doesn’t mean he’ll be out of the story — he could come back and haunt Alice for the rest of her life, scaring off prospective suitors and leaving her to die alone and unloved. 😦

I’m interested in what Alice’s Lifetime Wish is — and if she’ll be successful…

    • 190 Samantha July 7, 2009 at 12:00 am

I try playing with different taits so I know what you’re talking about, once he’s out in the middle of no where I don’t doubt his ability to walk about on his own, but I don’t know if it is part of the programming for him to leave a lot without being told though (they may leave community lots but I’m not sure if they’d leave a residential lot). I’m not saying its not possible, I just havn’t seen or heard of it before. I think if it isn’t possible it would be a nice to see the free will upgrading to allow it.

  79. 191 Mason July 6, 2009 at 9:20 pm

Oh My God Kev’s dead of starvation!

  80. 193 Miao July 6, 2009 at 9:21 pm

I hope Kev lives, but the ominous feeling is still there.

What’s with all these commenters acting like this story belongs to them? It belongs to the author, roBurky. If someone doesn’t like how he’s developing the story or the characters, and doesn’t have any kind words or constructive criticism to give, then it’s better if he/she doesn’t comment at all since it establishes nothing except the likely correct assumption that the commenter is mean-spirited or a jerk.

    • 194 Mark Harris July 6, 2009 at 9:34 pm

Interesting. “Belongs to”. It’s a concept at the base of the Great Copyright Argument – what belongs to whom and when? What is an author without a reader, or a playwright without an audience, or even an actor?

Does the act of publishing confer a type of ownership over the work to those who consume it? (Not saying it does, not saying it doesn’t. Just asking)

  81. 196 andrea July 6, 2009 at 9:28 pm

kev will die. His ghost will appear – not sure where though. The ghost usually pops up out of the grave but i’m not sure if he’ll travel home to haunt poor alice or just haunt the empty field

    • 197 Samantha July 7, 2009 at 12:03 am

they can travel, not sure if he’d choose to go home or not but one of my sim families chose to live on a road with only their house there and surrounded by vacant lots (no houses), several times a car would drive up and a ghost would get out and go across the street and then fade half way into the lot. It was a bit creepy.

  82. 198 Synne July 6, 2009 at 9:32 pm

I love Riverview, it’s so much better than Sunset Valley 🙂

  83. 199 KRISTEN STEWART LOVER July 6, 2009 at 9:40 pm

well guys.kevs not dead. the author probably has a cheat code to MAKE ALL HAPPY or something. trust me he wouldnt make him die. its alice and kev and the stories not over anytime soon.

  84. 200 Alicia July 6, 2009 at 10:00 pm

keep it going! the story is cool but I wanna more action.

  85. 201 neewom July 6, 2009 at 10:00 pm

    Here, here.

Still, I’m just curious how this is going to play out. The story’s pretty much left to the game itself, with little intercession on the player’s part. So, who knows. Maybe we’ll see a death, maybe we won’t, but it’s a hell of a weird drama. It looks like Alice is still going to be homeless for a while, but she has possibilities for the future… whereas Kev seems to be letting his insane trait take over for a while, much to his detriment.

  86. 202 Josh July 6, 2009 at 10:08 pm

Run Fat Boy Run? Maybe his trying to prove something :L? Great blog been following a lot recently.

  87. 203 geno July 6, 2009 at 10:10 pm

Aw, he’s gonna die alone floating facedown by the robot fish.

  88. 205 yb July 6, 2009 at 10:12 pm

Such a great story, waiting for these updates are painful!

  89. 206 anita_bonghit July 6, 2009 at 11:08 pm

haha. the comments has become a chatroom about god. alice and kev is dope!

not only is it a GREAT story…but its also a semi chatroom!

anyways…down to business…do you think that kev is on a journey to kill himself? or is he just waiting for an epiphany?

what do you guys think :)?

    • 207 Samantha July 7, 2009 at 12:05 am

I looked at riverview and somewhat followed the path Kev took. Although it looks like he’s had quite a long journey and is more or less in a circular pass, over the hill there and a few miles away should be some houses. Still a long walk to go to get there but hopefully before he dies he finds someone to mooch off of.

  90. 208 Apriil July 6, 2009 at 11:56 pm

Maybe that’s where they used to live before they became homeless. Kev may have lost his job and/or Alice’s mother died and they were kicked from their home when they couldn’t pay the bills. Now Kev is heading back to relive the good days when his wife was still alive (her death causing him so much sorrow he took it out on poor Alice) before he too dies. But it was terribly far from where they ended up so who knows. I just enjoy speculating

  91. 209 Erbo July 7, 2009 at 12:17 am

Kev is still on walkabout. I don’t think any of us know what he’s searching for…but maybe he’s finding it even as we speak.

Then again, it is said that the Inuit, when dying, walked out onto the ice to spend one last night under the stars…maybe Kev is doing something similar.

Frame 7 is interesting…I get the impression that, if Kev knew Aramaic, he’d be saying, “Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani?” (“My God, My God, why have you forsaken me?”)

In any event, Kev will never be truly “gone” even after he dies…Alice still bears the emotional and spiritual scars of his influence on her, and will likely bear them all her life, more’s the pity.

  92. 210 Desert Rat July 7, 2009 at 12:26 am

    actually Kev is dying.

I don’t know if any of you remember correctly but when Sims die, they always hold themselves, and fall to the ground with their hands up in the air. Then curl into a ball….

Not in the Sims 3. When the Grim Reaper comes, they just halt what they’re doing, levitate, and then turn an opaque white. They hover there for a few moments, and then the Grim Reaper materializes. They briefly beg for their live, and then “poof”, they disappear, and an urn (or headstone if outside) materializes close to where they died.

I had one yesterday that died of old age in the middle of preparing a meal. She just levitated a bit, in the same position she’d been when cutting up the meat, veggies, etc, rotated, and did the death boogie with the GR.

  93. 211 chikko July 7, 2009 at 12:32 am

i dont recognize any of theses places from riverview…

  94. 213 Payton July 7, 2009 at 1:52 am

Still, lovely scenes in this game. And Kev might being dying. I just hope this story doesn’t die with him. I am still eager about Alice.

  95. 214 Pablo July 7, 2009 at 1:56 am

It think Kev’s journey is very Truman Show-esque. He is exercising free will.

  96. 215 Go Cat Dave July 7, 2009 at 2:53 am

That’s all Alice needs, a ghost version of Kev following her around.

  97. 216 Jango July 7, 2009 at 2:59 am

I bet a muffin Kev dies in the next episode.

Kev will die soon. He is obviously parched, in the Beating sun with no place to sleep or eat except a creepy old barn and some stonehenge(or “simhenge”lol). Plus it has been a while since kev grew into an elder.

i think this is the riverview lot, the default is sunset valley.

hmm… will kev cease to exist or will whomever is at the barn not too far away find and rescue him from food despiration and exhaustion..

the read is still extremely entertaining..

    thanks..

-First time posting- I absolutely LOVE this story!

Kevvy has walked, yelled randomly at some rocks, walked more, and come to some kind of barn… what the hell is he doing? Going to work on a farm? Going to steal a cow? Going to eat the farmer? …sorry. I need to shut up, now. XD

Just a couple things to comment on some of the posts above.

First of all, if Kev’s journey is playing out in a continuous story timeline, he did eat just before taking off on this, his incredible journey. He then walked all day and into the night, ranted at Stonehenge, and then passed out in the field. He got up at some point, and wound up walking again until dawn, where he passed out once again.

If Kev is hungry at this point (and he probably is at least feeling some hunger pangs), then he’s not quite at the point of starvation. And, since he is not thin, I’m not sure if he would last a little longer without food, living off some of his body fat.

Kev is tired though, and though he might have eaten before starting out, I don’t think he had the chance to shower or use the bathroom, so he is probably one rather smelly Sim at the moment.

When Kev eventually does pass on, Robin still could keep the story going as ‘Alice and Kev.’ After all, Kev could still be in the story as a ghost. However, it would also be easy to end Alice and Kev’s story with Kev’s death, and start a new blog to pick up Alice’s story. We’ll just have to see what Robin does when that time comes.

Stick with the story at hand folks, stick with the story at hand!

By the way, this is just ace, everything about this blog is great, I’m just going to sit and wait what happens to Kev, if he dies, he’ll become a ghost and undoubtedly haunt Alice, if he doesn’t who knows. For all we know, he could walk over the next hill to find a massive empty house, with a fridge full of fresh food, a freshly made bed and all he could dream of and it’s truly empty, no-one’s going to come back, who knows?

  111. 230 Alexis July 7, 2009 at 12:12 pm

    Oh….my…..god….. Is Kev in Riverview?

  112. 231 katierose July 7, 2009 at 8:41 pm

what is with this guy. is he dieing or what im kinda lost
why are ther no words in these last few kev posts
awwwwwwww Kev in mean and crazy but DONT DIE YET

  113. 232 Ingrid July 8, 2009 at 2:46 am

    Dear Kev:
Grain silos, while filled with food, are known for their taciturn, heartless nature. You might have better luck with the humans living at the farmhouse nearby.
    Cheers,
    Ingrid

  114. 233 Ingrid July 8, 2009 at 2:52 am

Can sims get run down by vehicles? I hope Kev doesn’t get run over by a tractor. Holy cow…

  115. 234 jim July 8, 2009 at 11:06 am

what is in that farmhouse…I MUST KNOW

  116. 235 Alex July 9, 2009 at 2:58 pm

Kev’s hand gesture isn’t the dying arm wave, it’s the Simlish ASL for “Red Wizard Needs Food Badly”

  117. 236 thebeginningandend July 17, 2009 at 10:52 am

Grey Sky, he’s just passing out. 🙂

Where in the world is Kev going? 😐

  118. 237 GuardianDemon July 20, 2009 at 7:34 am

I’m guessing he’s gonna die (eventually) of old age. Alice will be pleased to hear that…oh wait, I forgot she’s to good to be happy that her father is dead. Hhmmmm… -__-

  119. 238 Raine July 21, 2009 at 7:00 pm

The story is still beautiful without words.
    This part cannot take words.
