Kev is utterly humiliated by Yvette’s laughter. He is the most furious he has ever been in his life, but he contains it.
Did he screw up this chance for wealth and happiness, or would the idea have always been ludicrous to her? He leaves the house, silently seething.
He returns to the old park, striding forcefully back to his bench, a scowl on his face. But when he sees his daughter, the pressure is released, and he lets out an incoherent scream of rage.

Second off, she’s what… 100 lbs? Kev is easily over 200. Apparently english and common sense are both not your forte.
She may use like in a valley girl way, but at least she did not display the total lack of manners that the both of you did. I suppose it’s just too tempting to show your ass and be rude to a random person online, especially when it gives you an opportunity to feel superior.

Well actully in the sims2 there was this gun you could download and kill someone. If there was one made for the sims3 then Alice could kill kev. Dont know where she would find the gun though? Maybe robbing a police station?

On one hand I’m happy that she declined…if Kev and Alice were able to move in and stop being homeless it could have been the end of the storyline. On the Other I’m a little sad that they still will remain homeless.

Yvette’s rejection of Kev could be further proof of my theory that Yvette has the “Commitment Issues” trait, or she’s probably just laughing at him because he’s crazy (How long did it take her to figure THAT out?)

Sims child services agency creeps me out. They ignore the most hideously abused kids and teens (take a bow Alice) and only save the babies… which are then never seen again, even when the parents better their lives.
Just what happens to those babies? Do Madonna and Angelina split them even Stevens?
I kind of agree. It’s a very negative portrayal of social services, whose main activity is helping families sort out their problems, not punishing them and removing their children.
I actually think that Sims Ville is a Orwellian dystopia. How about those totalitarian police curfews or the unstoppable repo men.
We totally need a Winston and Julia blog. In which they’re both abducted, tortured and brain washed before selling out their friends and getting executed. Sad ending to that story.
Still, Sims 3 is a lot of fun.
I hadn’t know Sims 3 had a child services agency (I’ve only ever played the original Sims) – they should all be fired for ignoring Alice’s situation. At this point, I’ve got two worries for Alice. Immediate future: that Kev might hurt her (can Sims be physically abusive?). He was already scaring her for fun in a previous episode, after all. More distant future: after Alice grows up, what if Kev hits on her? Reading through the comments, I know I’m not the only one who suspects he might try that. Aside from his one “nice dad” moment, he’s horrible.
Luckily, related Sims can’t hit on each other, well, at least not intermediate family. And, yeah, the Social Worker ladies only ever take away almost-dead kids. Even then, they don’t really do a great job. Babysitters do a wonderful job of stealing babies and toddlers from what I’ve heard, as I haven’t hired a sitter yet in mine. (Oh the joys of game glitches.)
I really hope that Alice will grow up and do something good with her life. Maybe leave the Grocery Store Clerk days behind and get a career in Law Enforcement so that she can eliminate the people like Kev from this world. (Or at least the virtual one that they reside in.) Maybe Kev will apologize for everything he’s done to her, and they can start a new page, perhaps.
Also, a quick question, I’m not sure if it’s been answered before or not…Do you use cameraman mode?

I think I spend far too much time in Sims 3 power gaming. I’m always grinding my sims to death by making the read, or study and schmoozing with co-workers to get ahead. This blog inspires me to just let things happen…perhaps after they reach the top of their career track heh.
Just wanted to say great job on this. Part social experiment, part Monty Python with the randomness of the game.

true, but any good sims player knows that there are cheats for everything! just randomly saying this, but when you press Ctrl+Shift+C and type testingcheatsenabled true you can shift+click on a sim and click modify traits its awesome i do it all the time!!\

I was playing sims 3 and made a family like Alice & Kev’s and then Stan (the ugly fat Kev rofl) got married to Yvette (before she was an elder) and moved into her house with her ex- husband so they have been fighting alot. I had to make them each quit work to fight!
I’ve heard about this, mostly through TS3 website, and finally I decided to read it. It’s absolutely amazing.
I’ve fallen in love with it, and I just started getting into it today.
I have also downloaded the family myself and am going to give it a whirl, but in my own manner. I feel the need to save Alice and rub it in Kev’s face. I can’t wait to get it started. =)

I think one of the points of this little experiment is that people and sims simply don’t appreciate the difficulties of homelessness- often attributing poor hygiene, inappropriateness or neediness as a sign of weakness of character.
I doubt Alice will be able to sustain a relationship until she lucks out and only meets a potential suitor on her good days, away from Kev and without touching anything he/she owns.
well, a girl did leave her husband for Kev(he screwed it up but that isn’t my point) and Alice broke a lot of things in the last house she was in, I believe…. so who knows?

This is pretty amazing. I’ve been playing The Sims for a long time. By the time Sims 3 came out, I was starting to get a little burned out. This has reawakened my interest. What a fascinating experiment and reminder that these created people have lives of their own.
